CUET UG 2025: 7 Key Changes You Need to Know

CUET UG 2025 introduces major changes including subject flexibility, fewer options, CBT-only mode, compulsory questions, and more. Stay informed to prepare effectively.

The Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduate Admissions (CUET UG) 2025 has undergone some major changes this year. If you're planning to appear for CUET UG, here are the 7 most important updates you should be aware of:

1. Freedom to Choose Any Subject

Good news! You can now choose up to 5 subjects in CUET UG 2025, regardless of what you studied in 12th standard. This means you have the flexibility to explore new fields of study, even if you didn't take those subjects in school. It's a great opportunity to pursue your interests!

2. Fewer Subjects to Choose From

The total number of subjects has been reduced from 63 to 37. This includes 13 languages, 23 domain-specific subjects, and 1 general aptitude test. Don't worry if your subject has been removed - admissions for those will now be based on the General Aptitude Test (GAT) scores.

3. Only Computer-Based Test (CBT) Mode

Say goodbye to pen and paper! CUET UG 2025 will be conducted entirely in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. This means you'll be answering questions on a computer screen. It's a good idea to practice online tests to get comfortable with this format.

4. All Questions are Compulsory

No more optional questions! In CUET UG 2025, all questions will be compulsory. This means you need to attempt every question in the exam. Make sure you manage your time wisely to answer all questions.

5. Fewer Exam Centers

The number of exam centers has been reduced. There will be 285 centers in India (down from 354 last year) and 15 centers abroad. Check the list of available centers when you register to find the one closest to you.

6. Uniform Exam Duration

All CUET UG 2025 papers will now have a standard duration of 60 minutes. Each test paper will contain 50 questions. You'll get 5 marks for each correct answer and lose 1 mark for each wrong answer. Plan your strategy accordingly!

7. Maximum 5 Subjects Allowed

Previously, students could appear for up to 6 subjects. Now, you can choose a maximum of 5 subjects in CUET UG 2025. Choose your subjects wisely based on your interests and the requirements of the courses you want to apply for.

Important Dates to Remember
