JEE Advanced 2026: Registration Dates, Exam Schedule, and Eligibility Details

IIT Roorkee has released the complete schedule for JEE Advanced 2026. If you are planning to take this exam, here's everything you need to know about registration dates, eligibility, fees, and the exam day.

When Can You Register?

Registration for JEE Advanced 2026 opens on 23rd April and closes on 2nd May. You can apply through the official website jeeadv.ac.in during this period.

Foreign candidates get an early start. They can begin their registration from 6th April itself.

The exam will take place on 17th May 2026 in two shifts. Make sure you mark this date on your calendar.

Who Can Apply for JEE Advanced?

Not everyone can take JEE Advanced. The exam has specific eligibility rules you must meet.

First, you must have appeared for and passed JEE Main 2026 Paper 1. But that's not all. You need to rank among the top 2.5 lakh candidates in JEE Main to qualify for JEE Advanced.

Your Class 12 exam matters too. You should have appeared for your 12th board exam for the first time in either 2025 or 2026. Your subject combination must include Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

Here's something important: if you already secured admission to any IIT in previous years, you cannot appear for JEE Advanced 2026. This rule ensures fresh opportunities for new candidates.

Application Fee Structure

The application fee varies based on your category.

Female candidates from India pay Rs 1,600. SC, ST, and PwD candidates also pay Rs 1,600 as their application fee.

General and OBC-NCL category candidates need to pay Rs 3,200.

Foreign candidates have a different fee structure. Students from SAARC countries pay 100 US Dollars (approximately Rs 9,232). Candidates from other countries need to pay 200 US Dollars.

How to Apply Online

The application process is simple if you follow these steps.

Visit the official website jeeadv.ac.in. You will need your JEE Main 2026 application number and password to log in.

Once you log in, fill in all the required details carefully. Select your preferred question paper language. This choice is important because you cannot change it later.

Upload all necessary documents as per the specifications mentioned on the portal. After completing the form, pay the application fee through the available payment options.

Double check everything before final submission. Keep a copy of your application form and payment receipt for future reference.

Admit Card Release Date

Your admit card will be available for download from 11th May 2026. You can download it from the official website until 17th May 2026, which is the exam day.

The admit card is your entry ticket to the exam hall. Without it, you cannot take the test. Download it as soon as it releases and check all details printed on it.

Exam Day Schedule

JEE Advanced 2026 will be conducted in two papers on 17th May 2026.

Paper 1 starts at 9:00 AM and ends at 12:00 PM. You get three hours to complete this paper.

Paper 2 begins at 2:30 PM and continues till 5:30 PM. This is also a three-hour paper.

Both papers are compulsory. Your final rank depends on your performance in both papers combined.

What You Should Do Now

If you qualify for JEE Advanced based on your JEE Main rank, start preparing your documents now. You will need your Class 10 and 12 mark sheets, category certificate (if applicable), and a recent photograph.

Keep your JEE Main application number and password handy. You cannot register for JEE Advanced without these credentials.
