NPCI BASE: Aadhaar Seeding, Bank Mapping & Scholarship Payment Status Guide

Learn how NPCI's Bharat Aadhaar Seeding Enabler (BASE) lets students request Aadhaar seeding, check service status, view bank mapping and review mapping history for DBT-linked payments.

NPCI BASE: Aadhaar Seeding, Bank Mapping & Scholarship Payment Status Guide

Hello students! I am Runal Naik from AcademyCheck. If your scholarship or another direct-benefit payment needs Aadhaar-linked bank routing, NPCI's Bharat Aadhaar Seeding Enabler (BASE) provides the official self-service route to request seeding and check the resulting status.

BASE is not a scholarship application and it does not approve a scholarship. It helps you request or review Aadhaar-to-bank mapping for the payment route. You must still complete the relevant scholarship application on the official National Scholarship Portal and follow your bank's instructions where required.

What NPCI BASE lets you do

BASE option

What it is for

Request for Aadhaar Seeding

Submit a request to seed or link Aadhaar with the selected bank account.

Check Your Service Status

Track the status of a BASE request.

Get Aadhaar Mapped Status

Check the bank currently associated with Aadhaar mapping, where the service returns that information.

Get Aadhaar Mapping History

Review available mapping changes or earlier mapping records.

These four options are described in the official BASE process guidance. The exact response can depend on the bank and the request stage, so keep the reference or status details shown after submission.

How to use the official BASE route

  1. Open the NPCI website.

  2. Open Consumer and select Bharat Aadhaar Seeding Enabler (BASE).

  3. Choose the service you need: seeding request, service status, mapped status or mapping history.

  4. Enter the Aadhaar and bank-account information requested on the official screen. Read the confirmation details before submitting.

  5. Save the acknowledgement, request reference or status result. Use the status option later if the bank has not yet completed the request.

Keep these details ready

  • Your Aadhaar number or the identity details requested by the official flow.

  • The bank account information that should receive the scholarship or DBT payment.

  • Access to the mobile number and bank records linked to your account, if an authentication step is requested.

  • The scholarship application or OTR details separately; BASE does not replace either one.

BASE, OTR and scholarship application are different steps

Step

Purpose

NSP OTR

Creates the student's one-time registration identity for the National Scholarship Portal.

Scholarship application

Submits the fresh or renewal application for the scheme and academic year.

NPCI BASE

Requests or checks Aadhaar-to-bank mapping used for eligible DBT routing.

Completing BASE will not submit an NSP form, and generating OTR will not by itself seed your bank account. Check both records when a portal shows an Aadhaar, bank or payment-status issue.

If the status is pending or incorrect

  • Recheck the bank account details and the information you entered on the official service.

  • Keep the request reference and contact the bank that should hold the mapping.

  • If a different bank is mapped, ask the bank about the correction or de-seeding process before submitting a new request.

  • For scholarship-specific application or payment questions, use the official NSP help route and your institution's nodal contact.

Never share your Aadhaar number, OTP, password or bank credentials with an unofficial caller or a coaching intermediary. Use the official NPCI and government pages, and check the domain before entering sensitive information.

Frequently asked questions

Does BASE apply for a scholarship?

No. It is an Aadhaar-seeding and bank-mapping service. Submit the scholarship form separately on the official portal.

Can I check which bank is mapped?

The official BASE flow includes a Get Aadhaar Mapped Status option. Use the result shown by NPCI and contact the relevant bank if it is not the account you expect.

Is OTR the same as BASE?

No. OTR identifies the student for NSP; BASE concerns Aadhaar-to-bank mapping for DBT routing.

Should I use a third-party payment website?

No. Start from NPCI or the government scholarship portal and avoid links sent by unknown people.

Summary and your next step

Use BASE when you need to request or check Aadhaar-bank seeding, retain the status evidence and complete your scholarship application separately. Resolve any mismatch with the bank and official NSP support before the payment stage. Warm wishes for a smooth scholarship process!

Note: Portal screens, bank processing times and scheme requirements can change. Follow the latest official instructions shown on the relevant government or NPCI page.
