Who Can Apply?
The scholarship is meant for students studying after Class 10. This may include students in Class 11 and 12, undergraduate courses, postgraduate courses, diploma programmes, technical courses and other recognised post matric programmes.
Eligibility can depend on the student’s category, family income, course, institution and academic record. The institution must also be recognised under the rules of the scheme. Meeting one condition does not always mean that an application will be approved, so read the current instructions before submitting the form.
Fresh and Renewal Applications
A fresh application is for a student applying for the scholarship for the first time in the relevant course or level. Fresh applicants must enter their personal, academic and bank details and upload the required documents.
A renewal application is for a student who received the scholarship earlier and continues to study. Renewal students must confirm their previous application details and provide current academic information. They should not create a fresh application unless the instructions ask them to do so. Two forms can create two problems, and that is not a maths puzzle anyone wants.
Documents Students May Need
Keep clear copies of the required documents before starting the online form. The list may vary by category and course, but students may need:
- Aadhaar card or another approved identity document
- Recent passport-size photograph
- Previous examination marksheet
- Current admission or fee receipt
- Income certificate
- Caste certificate, where applicable
- Domicile certificate, where required
- Bank passbook with the student’s name and account details
- Course and institution details
Make sure the name on the application matches the name on the bank account and Aadhaar records. Check the account number and IFSC code twice. A small typing error can delay payment.
How the Application Process Works
- Visit the official Uttar Pradesh scholarship portal.
- Select the Post Matric Scholarship and fee reimbursement section.
- Choose fresh or renewal registration.
- Enter personal, academic, category and bank details.
- Upload documents in the required format and size.
- Review every detail before final submission.
- Save the registration number and take a printout of the final form.
- Submit the printed form and documents to the institution, if asked.
Students should use the official portal and avoid unverified links shared on social media. The portal address, instructions and correction window may change, so check the latest government notice before applying.
Verification and Payment
After submission, the school, college or institute checks the application. The university or affiliating agency may then verify it. Approved applications move through further scrutiny, including PFMS checks.
The scholarship amount is transferred to the student’s Aadhaar-linked bank account after the required approvals. Students should keep the bank account active and ensure that the Aadhaar and bank details are linked as required. They can also track the application status through the official portal and check payment updates through PFMS when available.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Waiting until the final day to submit the form
- Choosing the wrong application type
- Entering an incorrect roll number or course name
- Uploading unclear or incomplete documents
- Using a bank account that does not belong to the student
- Forgetting to print or submit the final form
- Ignoring a correction notice from the institution
Keep screenshots, acknowledgement slips, printouts and submission records until the payment reaches your account. Your future self may need them, and future self is not always good at remembering passwords.
