RRB Group D Exam 2026 Shift Timings and Exam Day Rules

The RRB Group D CBT 1 exam 2026 will begin on 3 August. The exam will take place in three shifts on 3 to 6 August, 9 to 14 August, 17 to 21 August and 25 August 2026. Candidates must check their admit card for the exact exam date, shift and centre details.

Knowing the reporting time is as important as revising the syllabus. The exam centre will close its gates at the stated time. Reaching late can mean missing the exam, even if you have a valid admit card. Plan your route before exam day and try to reach the centre before the reporting time.

Shift 211:15 am12:15 pm12:45 pm to 2:15 pm
Shift 33:00 pm4:00 pm4:30 pm to 6:00 pm

The reporting time allows the centre staff to complete checks before the test starts. Do not treat it as the time to leave home. Travel delays, traffic and queues at the centre can use up more time than expected.

Documents to carry to the exam centre

Keep all required documents in a clear folder on the night before the exam. Carry:

  • A printed copy of the RRB Group D 2026 admit card.
  • A valid original photo identity proof. The name and details should match your application records.
  • One recent passport size photograph, as required in the exam instructions.
  • SC or ST travel authority, if it applies to you.

Check the admit card for any extra instruction about the accepted ID proof. A photocopy or a photo of an ID on your phone may not be accepted in place of the original document.

Dress code for RRB Group D CBT

Wear simple and comfortable clothes. Light-coloured clothes with no large prints are a safe choice. Avoid clothes with many pockets, as they may lead to extra checks at the centre.

  • Do not wear watches, jewellery or other accessories.
  • Avoid scarves, caps, jackets and clothes with large buttons or metal parts.
  • Wear simple slippers or shoes.
  • Carry only items allowed under the instructions on your admit card.

It is best to follow a simple rule: wear what makes security checks easy. This is not the day to test a new fashion trend or carry half your room in your pockets.

Items not allowed inside the centre

Electronic items are not allowed in the exam centre. Do not carry a mobile phone, smartwatch, calculator, Bluetooth device, earphones or other gadgets. Avoid carrying extra bags and valuable items because the centre may not have safe storage for them.

Before leaving home, check your pockets and bag. A forgotten device can create stress during entry and may lead to disqualification under exam rules.

Exam pattern and negative marking

The RRB Group D CBT 1 exam will last 90 minutes and will have 100 multiple choice questions. There will be negative marking of one third mark for each wrong answer.

Read every question with care. If you are unsure, use the exam time wisely and avoid random guesses. Keep a few minutes to review questions that you marked for later. A calm approach can help you avoid losing marks through hurried answers.

Exam day checklist

Use this checklist before you leave:

  • Check the exam date, shift and centre address on the admit card.
  • Save the centre location and plan the route in advance.
  • Keep the printed admit card and original ID proof ready.
  • Carry the required photograph and travel authority, if applicable.
  • Wear simple clothes and comfortable footwear.
  • Reach before the reporting time.
  • Follow the instructions given by the invigilator and centre staff.

The admit card remains the main source of information for your exam day. Read every page, including the instructions printed on the back, and check the official RRB website for any update before travelling to the centre.
