NTA Grants 4 Bonus Marks in Re NEET 2026 After Dropping Physics Question
NTA awards 4 bonus marks to all Re NEET 2026 candidates after dropping an incorrect Physics question on Vernier callipers where the correct answer wasn't listed.
AC Team

All students who appeared in the Re NEET 2026 exam will receive 4 bonus marks. The National Testing Agency (NTA) confirmed this when it released the official answer key. The agency dropped one question from the Re NEET 2026 answer key, which means every candidate gets 4 bonus marks automatically.
The additional marks will be added while preparing the Re NEET 2026 result. You don't need to submit any request for these bonus marks.
Why Did NTA Drop a Question?
The dropped question came from the Physics section. Here's what the question asked:
"One main scale division of a Vernier calliper is equal to 1 mm and the number of divisions on the Vernier scale is 10. When both the jaws touch each other, the Vernier scale shifts to the left of zero of the main scale in such a way that 4th Vernier division coincides with a division of the main scale. If this Vernier calliper measures the length of a wire to be 1 cm, the actual length of the wire is:"
The question paper provided these options: 0.60 cm, 0.96 cm, 1.00 cm, and 1.04 cm.
The problem? The correct answer using standard Vernier caliper calculation is 1.06 cm. This option was missing from the paper. Since none of the given options was correct, NTA dropped the question and awarded four bonus marks to all candidates.

How to Calculate Your Score Now
Calculating your Re NEET 2026 score with the bonus marks is simple. Follow these steps:
- Count the total number of questions you answered correctly and add 4 marks for each
- Count the total number of questions you answered incorrectly and deduct 1 mark for each
- Calculate your raw score using the above information
- Add 4 bonus marks to your calculated raw score
- This is your final expected Re NEET 2026 score
Remember, you don't need to do anything special to claim these marks. NTA will add them automatically when preparing the result.
Will This Change Your Rank?
The dropped question is not expected to significantly affect the Re NEET 2026 merit list. Why? Because every candidate receives the same four bonus marks.
Your individual score will increase by four marks, yes. But the relative ranking among candidates should remain largely unchanged. Everyone moves up by the same amount, so your position compared to other students stays similar.
However, this could still help at the margins. If you were just below a cutoff threshold, these four marks might push you above it.
What Happens Next?
The Re NEET 2026 result will be prepared using this revised evaluation. The bonus marks are already factored into the final answer key that NTA released.
When the result comes out, you will see your final score with the bonus marks already included. The scorecard will show your total marks, rank, and percentile based on the adjusted scoring.
Counselling will proceed based on these final scores and ranks. Make sure to participate in both All India Quota counselling and your state counselling to maximize your chances of admission.
