NEET UG 2026 Result Date and Re-Exam Details: What NTA Announced

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the NEET UG re-exam on 21 June 2026, and now lakhs of students are waiting to know when the results will come out. The exam took place after the 3 May test was cancelled due to paper leak allegations. This time, the exam was held with the strictest security measures ever seen in India.

Over 20 lakh students appeared for the re-exam across 5,440 exam centres in India and 14 centres abroad. NTA Director General Abhishek Singh stated that the results will be announced as soon as possible. The team is currently collecting boxes from all centres and analysing CCTV footage.

How Was the 21 June Paper?

Students had mixed reactions about the difficulty level of the paper. Most students found Biology easy, but Physics and Chemistry had some challenging questions. One candidate said the entire paper came from NCERT. Another student mentioned that Physics was a bit difficult.

Some students felt the re-exam was harder compared to the 3 May exam. They believe the cutoff should be lower this time. A few students reported that Biology was easy, but Physics and Chemistry were moderate in difficulty.

PM Modi Waited 45 Minutes at Airport

Prime Minister Narendra Modi showed consideration for NEET students in an unexpected way. After attending an International Yoga Day event in Kolkata, he arrived at Delhi Airport at 1:15 PM on Sunday. Instead of leaving for his residence immediately, he waited at the airport.

The PM waited until 2 PM when the NEET exam started. He did this to make sure his convoy would not cause traffic problems for students going to exam centres. This thoughtful gesture ensured no student faced delays because of VIP movement.

Student on Ventilator Takes Exam with Special Arrangements

Srishti Dubey, a NEET candidate, met with a serious road accident one week before the exam. She suffered 9 broken ribs and lung injuries. She was even on a ventilator for some time.

Despite these severe injuries, Srishti remained determined to take the exam. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan ordered special arrangements at the exam centre. She was provided a separate room with necessary medical support. An ambulance and medical team were kept on standby.

The Education Minister personally called Srishti's parents to check on her health and assured them of all possible help. The family expressed gratitude to PM Modi, the Education Minister, NTA, and exam officials.

The Abu Dhabi Exam Centre Case

Abdullah Mohammad Talib, a student from Nagpur, finally took his exam in Nagpur. Earlier, his family claimed he was assigned an exam centre in Abu Dhabi. NTA stated that Talib had requested Abu Dhabi as his centre. The matter was resolved, and he appeared for the exam in his home city.

When Will NEET UG Results Be Announced?

NTA Director General Abhishek Singh said the agency will prepare to announce results as soon as possible. All boxes from exam centres are being collected, and CCTV analysis is underway. The exact date will be announced soon.

The delay is because of the thorough verification process. NTA wants to ensure complete transparency and accuracy before declaring results.

Key Numbers from the Re-Exam

About 20 lakh students appeared in the 21 June exam, compared to 22 lakh in the 3 May exam. Around 21 lakh students downloaded admit cards, and total registrations were 22.79 lakh. Some students did not appear because they had already taken admission in engineering courses.

The exam was conducted in 13 languages, including Hindi and English. More than 10,000 divyang students appeared, and special arrangements were made for 81 candidates with medical issues.

Security Measures Were Unprecedented

The re-exam saw security arrangements never seen before in India. Here are the key measures:

  • 1,38,560 CCTV cameras were installed across all centres
  • 95,000 exam rooms had CCTV surveillance
  • 51,311 jammers were deployed to prevent any communication
  • Aadhaar-based biometric and face authentication at all centres
  • Two-level frisking with help from state police
  • Command and control centres at national, state, and district levels

Nearly 7 lakh officials, police teams, observers, and exam staff were deployed. The entire operation was completed in a record 37 days. Drones and security personnel were stationed at exam centres in several states.

Multi-Department Coordination

The exam required coordination between multiple government departments. CAPF, Ministry of External Affairs, Postal Department, Indian Air Force, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, NIC, MeitY, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Defence, and banking partners like SBI, Canara Bank, PNB, and UCO Bank all contributed.

This level of coordination shows how seriously the government took the re-exam. Every department worked together to ensure a fair and transparent process.

Some Students Missed the Exam

Despite all arrangements, some students missed the exam due to delays. In Delhi, one student met with an accident. After first aid, he reached the exam centre late but was not allowed entry due to rules.

In Hyderabad, some students who arrived late were stopped from entering. They even tried to jump over the centre wall to get inside. Similar incidents were reported in Bhopal, Karnataka, and other states.

Cases of Cheating Were Caught

Several people who made fake paper leak claims were caught in recent days. On 21 June, many students were caught trying to bring mobile phones into exam centres. Cheating cases were registered. CCTV footage from every centre is being analysed, and action is being taken on every feedback received.

What Makes This Result Important

This NEET result is particularly important because it comes after a controversy. The credibility of the exam was questioned after the paper leak. The government and NTA took extraordinary steps to restore faith in the system.

Students who prepared for months deserve a fair evaluation. The thorough verification process, though time-consuming, ensures that genuine candidates get their due credit. The detailed CCTV analysis and multi-level checking will help identify any irregularities.

For lakhs of aspiring doctors, this result will determine their future. Medical colleges across India will start their admission process based on these scores. Students are anxiously waiting, but they can take comfort in knowing that every possible step has been taken to ensure fairness.
