NABARD Grade A 2027 Complete Guide: Latest Updates, Notification, Salary, Coaching Institutes & Test Series
Plan NABARD Grade A preparation with notification status, ESI, ARD, salary and descriptive tests, plus EduTap, Anuj Jindal, ixamBee and Oliveboard options.
Hello students! I'm Runal Naik, an Education Research Writer at AcademyCheck. NABARD Grade A preparation combines banking aptitude with Economic and Social Issues (ESI), Agriculture and Rural Development (ARD), and typed descriptive answers. For a 2027 attempt, begin with the established syllabus while waiting for the new notification.
This guide focuses on Assistant Manager Grade A in Rural Development Banking Service (RDBS), particularly the General discipline. Legal, specialist and Protocol and Security posts have different requirements. Use the official NABARD career notices to identify the correct discipline before applying.
1. NABARD Grade A 2027 notification and dates
2027 notification: The application dates, vacancies and examination timetable are awaited.
What to do now: Build ESI and ARD foundations, maintain aptitude practice and begin typed descriptive answers.
When the notification appears: Check your discipline, eligibility cutoff, application deadline and examination scheme before applying.
Keep degree records, category certificates where applicable and an active email address ready. A notification screenshot shared in a group is insufficient: match its advertisement, discipline and year to the official notice.
2. Eligibility for RDBS General: age and qualifications
Under the 2025 Grade A advertisement, the age range was 21-30, with prescribed relaxations. The new recruitment notice will set the eligibility cutoff for your intended attempt. General-discipline qualification routes included:
A recognised bachelor's degree in any subject with at least 60% aggregate marks, reduced to 55% for SC/ST/PwBD applicants.
A postgraduate degree or MBA/PGDM with at least 55%, reduced to 50% for SC/ST/PwBD applicants.
CA, CS, CMA, ICWA or a recognised PhD, as specified in the notice.
An agriculture degree was not compulsory for the General discipline. Agriculture knowledge remains important for the examination. Specialist applicants must check their specific degree requirements. Calculate eligibility using the new cycle's cutoff date when available.
3. Prelims pattern: protect qualifying sections, prioritise merit sections
The 2025 Preliminary information handout specifies 200 questions for 200 marks in 120 minutes of composite time. The eight sections divide into two groups:
Qualifying sections
Section | Qs | Marks |
|---|---|---|
Reasoning | 20 | 20 |
English | 30 | 30 |
Computer | 20 | 20 |
Quantitative | 20 | 20 |
Decision | 10 | 10 |
Merit sections
Section | Qs | Marks |
|---|---|---|
General | 20 | 20 |
ESI | 40 | 40 |
ARD | 40 | 40 |
Shortlisting for Mains uses the merit-section marks, subject to the applicable individual and total cutoffs. Objective wrong answers attract a quarter of the question's allotted marks as a penalty. Avoid spending almost all preparation time on Quant and Reasoning while leaving ESI and ARD for the final weeks.
Use one diagnostic mock to locate your weakest qualifying section. Then maintain it through short practice sessions while building ESI and ARD concepts. An unbalanced merit score cannot compensate for missing a required qualifying cutoff.
4. Mains, psychometric test and interview
For RDBS General, the 2025 Mains handout sets out:
Component | Qs | Marks | Min |
|---|---|---|---|
Paper I: | 3 | 100 | 90 |
Paper II: ESI | 30 | 50 | 30 |
Paper II: ESI | 4 | 50 | 90 |
Paper I is typed descriptive English. In Paper II descriptive, answer four of six questions: two answers of 15 marks and two of 10 marks.
Paper II descriptive answers can be typed in English or Hindi using the specified keyboard layouts. Practise with the layout you will actually use. Writing extra answers is unhelpful: the handout says only the first four are evaluated when more than four are attempted.
The 2025 selection process also required a 90-minute psychometric test, followed by an interview carrying 50 marks. Final selection uses Mains and interview marks under the applicable rules. Begin typing and answer organisation during initial preparation; factual recall alone does not prepare you for descriptive work.
5. ESI and ARD syllabus: turn concepts into usable answers
The official ESI and ARD syllabus is illustrative rather than exhaustive. ESI covers the economy, inflation, poverty, employment, rural credit, financial institutions, social justice, education and health. ARD includes crops, soil, irrigation, horticulture, livestock, fisheries, forestry, agricultural extension and rural development.
Build two linked notebooks. The concept notebook explains terms in your own words. The current-affairs notebook connects a relevant policy or development to its purpose, beneficiaries, implementation and rural-finance implications. Record the period attached to any statistic so that an old figure does not become a current claim.
6. Salary and the work you are preparing for
The 2025 advertisement states starting basic pay of ₹44,500 per month and initial gross emoluments of approximately ₹1,00,000. Gross pay is different from take-home pay; deductions, allowances and accommodation affect the final amount. The notice provides a two-year probation period, which may be extended, and liability for transfer anywhere in India.
Choose this route if development finance, agriculture and rural institutions interest you alongside an officer career. Compare the subject demands with our RBI Grade B preparation guide: NABARD's ARD emphasis creates a different study requirement. An IBPS PO preparation plan can help identify aptitude overlap, but does not replace NABARD's specialist content.
7. Online coaching options: EduTap, Anuj Jindal, ixamBee and Oliveboard
AcademyCheck helps you compare preparation options around the subjects and support you need. Coaching is optional: consider it for ARD foundations, structured revision or evaluated descriptive answers. Check that the course remains accessible through your intended 2027 attempt.
EduTap
EduTap's NABARD Gold course combines concept classes with notes, summary sheets, mocks, descriptive practice and mentorship. It offers 12-, 18- and 24-month access options.
Deeksha - teaching since 2021 - ARD.
Kritika - teaching since 2021 - ESI.
Narveer - teaching since 2010 - English.
Compare the teaching medium, an ARD lesson and an evaluated answer before choosing the access period. You can compare bank-exam courses and test series on AcademyCheck; check NABARD-specific coverage within this broader catalogue.
Anuj Jindal
The complete NABARD course offers bilingual teaching, 365-day validity and separate Prelims, ESI, ARD and English mocks. Its GA-and-Phase-II product addresses a narrower need.
Beginners needing Quant and Reasoning should check the complete course's subject coverage.
Confirm the assigned teachers, descriptive evaluator and feedback entitlement for the selected batch.
Match the access period to the intended attempt, then compare bank-exam courses and test series on AcademyCheck.
ixamBee
ixamBee offers recorded learning, live doubt support and Phase I/II tests, with separate English practice. Its exclusive package adds one-to-one faculty meetings and interview guidance.
Kailash Tiwari - former Union Bank Agricultural Field Officer; teaching tenure not stated - ARD.
Check the selected plan's language, descriptive feedback and meeting entitlement.

Oliveboard
Oliveboard's current complete course combines ESI/ARD and aptitude classes with expert-evaluated descriptive mocks. The listed 2026 product ends at that cycle's Phase II examination, so a 2027 aspirant needs a suitable replacement.
Varsha Dhiman - 5+ years - Management/ARD.
Mannat Sharma - 3+ years - ESI/GA.
Kapil Dev Sharma - 12+ years - English.

8. Choose a test series by feedback, not only test count
Ask for a sample full-length Prelims test, an ESI/ARD explanation and an evaluated typed answer. A useful explanation shows why competing options fail. Descriptive feedback should address content, structure, relevance and use of evidence, rather than return only a score.
Check whether advertised counts include topic tests, sectionals and repeated variants. Confirm English evaluation, submission limits, turnaround, validity and the refund terms attached to the selected product. Use our NABARD online-coaching comparison to explore further options after identifying these requirements.
9. A practical preparation sequence for your 2027 attempt
Foundation stage: Diagnose aptitude gaps, study core ESI/ARD concepts and practise typing short answers.
Application stage: Connect current developments to syllabus topics, attempt mixed questions and write timed descriptive responses weekly.
Revision stage: Take full mocks, track recurring errors and revise weaker concepts rather than collecting more unread material.
A working applicant may use shorter daily sessions and a longer weekend mock-review block. A beginner may need more foundation time. Keep the plan adjustable: when the new notification appears, check eligibility, dates, vacancies and pattern first, then revise your timetable around the confirmed examination.
10. Frequently asked questions
Is an agriculture degree compulsory for RDBS General?
No. The 2025 General-discipline rules included eligible degrees in other subjects. Specialist posts have separate requirements.
Is a bank-exam foundation course enough?
It can support aptitude. You still need NABARD-specific ESI, ARD and typed descriptive preparation.
Does every Prelims section contribute to the merit score?
No. Under the cited scheme, GA, ESI and ARD form the merit group; the qualifying sections still require the applicable cutoffs.
Should I answer all six Paper II descriptive questions?
The cited handout requires four: two 15-mark and two 10-mark answers. Only the first four are evaluated if more are attempted.
What should I check in descriptive feedback?
Look for comments on relevance, content, structure and evidence, plus a revision opportunity. A score alone gives little direction.
11. Summary and next steps
Start ESI and ARD alongside aptitude, practise typed answers early and select support for your weakest area. The new notification must confirm your eligibility, dates and examination scheme before you apply.
