RBI Grade B 2027 Complete Guide: Latest Updates, Eligibility, Salary, Coaching Institutes, Test Series & Preparation Tips
Plan RBI Grade B preparation with eligibility, salary and the official exam baseline, plus EduTap, Anuj Jindal, ixamBee and Oliveboard course options.
Hello students! I'm Runal Naik, an Education Research Writer at AcademyCheck. RBI Grade B preparation combines aptitude, economic awareness and clear written answers. A bank-exam foundation helps with Phase 1, but Phase 2 needs its own study and writing routine. This guide explains the recruitment baseline, pay, coaching choices and practical preparation for a 2027 attempt.
1. RBI Grade B 2027: latest recruitment context
The 2027 notification, vacancies and application timetable are awaited. Begin aptitude, Economics and Social Issues, Finance and Management preparation now, and add regular descriptive writing.
Follow Opportunities at RBI for the relevant advertisement, amendments, call letters and results.
This guide focuses on the General cadre. DEPR and DSIM have different qualifications and examinations.
Use the official 2026 recruitment notice as a preparation baseline; use the next advertisement for your actual application rules.
2. Eligibility: degree, age and attempts
The General-cadre rules in the 2026 notice require:
Age: The referenced notice requires at least 21 and below 30 years on its eligibility cutoff, with prescribed relaxations. Different upper limits apply to eligible MPhil/PhD holders and specified categories.
Education: Graduation with at least 60% aggregate, or postgraduation with at least 55%. For eligible SC/ST/PwBD applicants against reserved vacancies, the thresholds are 50% at graduation or a pass at postgraduation.
Qualification date: Hold the required qualification by the cutoff in the new notice; check your result date before applying.
Attempts: General/EWS applicants have a six-attempt Phase 1 limit. The notice provides the specified category exemptions where vacancies are reserved.
Experience: Prior banking employment is not required for General-cadre applicants.
Before applying, match your marks, degree completion date, category documents and previous appearances with the new notice. Do not use a coaching batch's “2027” label as an eligibility announcement.
3. Exam pattern and selection stages
The official General-cadre scheme and syllabus sets out this baseline:
Phase 1 tests General Awareness, English, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning for 200 marks in 120 minutes, with separate test timings.
Phase 2: paper components
Component | Qs | Marks | Min |
|---|---|---|---|
ESI objective | 30 | 50 | 30 |
ESI | 4 | 50 | 90 |
English | 3 | 100 | 90 |
Finance / | 30 | 50 | 30 |
Finance / | 4 | 50 | 90 |
ESI means Economic and Social Issues. Phase 2 carries 300 marks across its three papers. The interview carries 75 marks; its timing is notified separately.
Meet the applicable qualifying requirements. Final merit uses Phase 2 and interview marks under the notice's rules.
For ESI and Finance/Management descriptive components, the scheme requires four answers from six questions, following the specified mark distribution. Practise typing and selecting questions under the timer. A good handwritten answer alone does not test your computer-based performance.
4. Salary and the work behind the role
The 2026 notice lists starting basic pay of ₹78,450 per month and approximate initial gross monthly emoluments of ₹1,54,936 excluding HRA. HRA at 15% of pay applies when Bank accommodation is not provided. Gross pay is different from take-home pay after deductions; use the next notice for any revised package.
RBI officers work across central-bank functions according to their posting. Interest in policy, finance, supervision and institutional work matters alongside salary. The notice also provides for all-India transfers, so consider mobility when deciding whether this career suits you.
5. What to study first
Phase 1 aptitude: Diagnose arithmetic, data interpretation, reasoning and English separately. Fix basic accuracy before trying to increase speed.
ESI: Connect growth, employment, poverty, development and social issues with current economic developments. Build short topic notes instead of collecting unrelated headlines.
Finance: Understand the financial system, RBI's role, markets, risk, inclusion, accounting basics and inflation.
Management: Cover organisational behaviour, motivation, leadership, ethics, governance and communication.
Writing: Give a direct answer, explain its reasoning and use a relevant example. Check structure, clarity and whether you answered every part of the question.
Use the RBI Grade B free study-material guide to organise primary reports and supporting resources. Start with a small reading list you can revise, including RBI publications, the Economic Survey and Budget where relevant.
6. Online coaching options for RBI Grade B
Coaching is optional. Choose foundation teaching for concept gaps, or evaluated writing and mocks when you already understand the syllabus. These current options have different packages; the quoted inclusions are provider-advertised.
EduTap
Its Gold course combines Phase 1 and Phase 2 concept classes, notes, current-affairs material and mock practice. The selected 12-month plan displays ₹7,429 with the listed promotion.
Separate Phase 2 and combined Phase 1/2 test products are available. This helps students choose practice without automatically buying another full course.
Useful to explore for a structured regulatory-exam routine. Check whether the selected validity covers your intended attempt and how descriptive feedback works.
Faculty experience shown by EduTap:
Anchit Sir - teaching since 2016 - content head and general mentor.
Vishnu VD - teaching since 2013 - Quantitative Aptitude.
Anuj Jindal
The bilingual 2027 Phase 1/2 course with e-books displays ₹8,400 and 365-day validity. Its package card includes live teaching, revision, 40 mocks, previous-paper e-books and interview guidance.
The printed-book version displays ₹10,080 and includes three physical books. Compare the delivery terms and final price before choosing that version.
Useful if a bilingual live timetable suits you. Try the two-day demo and check the feedback process for an answer you write yourself.
ixamBee
The 2027 Exclusive package lists 20 Phase 1 mocks and 25 Phase 2 mocks, with different objective and evaluated descriptive components for ESI, English and Finance/Management.
Its monthly one-to-one session is a distinct advertised feature. Ask how feedback identifies missing content, weak structure and time-management problems.
Useful to explore when answer evaluation is your main gap. Compare the exact Exclusive package with its other courses; their test counts differ.
Faculty experience advertised on its RBI course page:
Aakansha Agarwal - 14+ years of teaching - Reasoning and Aptitude.
CA Konika Mishra - 15 years overall experience, including corporate work and practice - Finance.
Oliveboard
Its catalogue lists a 2027 complete Phase 1/2 course with books and a separate Phase 1 Summit batch covering QRE and GA.
The course page advertises ESI/FM notes, current-affairs sessions and Phase 1/2 mocks. Choose a complete course when you need both stages, rather than assuming the Phase 1 batch includes Phase 2.
Useful to explore for integrated teaching and timed practice. Check the selected batch's language, faculty, descriptive evaluation and access period.

7. Test series and classroom selection
The RBI Grade B mock-test comparison can help you compare practice options. Check coverage of your exam scheme, clear solutions and usable feedback.
Compare full mocks separately from chapter and sectional tests.
Check whether descriptive answers receive individual evaluation or only a model solution.
Try the interface, typing environment and analysis before committing.
For classroom study, compare actual RBI-specific teaching, travel time and writing support, rather than a general banking banner.
8. A sustainable preparation routine
Keep daily slots for aptitude, ESI/FM and current-affairs revision.
Write two timed answers each week and improve them using specific feedback.
Take a sectional or full mock only when you can analyse it afterwards.
Maintain an error record: concept gap, misreading, weak recall or poor question selection.
Reattempt corrected questions and rewrite weak answers after a few days.
9. Frequently asked questions
Is the 2027 vacancy count confirmed? The 2027 vacancy count is awaited. RBI will publish the cadre-wise allocation in its new advertisement.
Can non-commerce graduates apply? The General-cadre degree rule is not limited to commerce. Check the marks and qualification cut-off.
Is Phase 1 enough for final selection? No. Phase 2 and interview performance determine final merit under the selection rules.
Can bank-PO preparation help? It supports the aptitude base. ESI, Finance/Management and descriptive English still need dedicated preparation.
Which coaching is best for me? Choose by your actual gap: foundation teaching, a manageable language/schedule, or evaluated writing and mocks.
