IBPS PO 2027 Complete Guide: Latest Updates, Notification, Salary, Top Coaching Institutes, Test Series & Interview Tips

Hello banking aspirants! I'm Runal Naik, an Education Research Writer at AcademyCheck. IBPS PO preparation needs more than prelims speed. This guide helps you identify the current recruitment cycle, prepare for mains and interview, and choose a course that addresses your actual weak areas.

The 2027 examination calendar is awaited. Use the current PO/MT-XVI scheme for preparation and check the official recruitment page for notices. Candidates in the current cycle should follow their Mains call letter; its calendar lists 4 October 2026.

1. What does an IBPS PO aspirant apply for?

This process recruits probationary officers/management trainees for participating banks. Check the participating-bank list and current vacancy annexure when preparing preferences. SBI PO, specialist officer and regional rural bank recruitment have separate notices; do not transfer their requirements into this application.

2. Eligibility and documents

The referenced notice requires a recognised graduation degree and uses an age range of 20-30 years, with prescribed relaxations. Check the new notice for your qualification and age cutoffs, and keep degree, identity and category documents ready.

  • Check your qualification against the exact reference date.

  • Use the university's prescribed conversion for grades, where required.

  • Resolve name differences between application and identity documents.

  • Use the correct certificate format and validity for your category.

  • Retain originals and copies for later verification.

3. Notification, vacancies and current stage

For each recruitment stage, use the relevant notice to find the application form, call letter or result. Download your call letter early enough to check the centre, reporting time and required documents.

  1. Open the official recruitment page.

  2. Check the notice date and cycle.

  3. Use the latest vacancy annexure for bank/category preferences.

  4. Save your application and payment acknowledgement.

  5. Follow subsequent call-letter, result and interview notices separately.

4. Prelims and mains: the current official scheme

The separate descriptive paper has essay and comprehension: two questions, 25 marks and 30 minutes.

These figures are from PO/MT-XVI, not a promise of a future scheme. In particular, do not assume equal section marks or reuse a letter-writing-only descriptive pack without checking the official handout. Inspect one sample mock before buying a subscription.

5. Prepare the syllabus through observable progress

  • Quant and data interpretation: practise clean calculation, percentages and reading the data correctly. Record where the first wrong assumption entered your solution.

  • Reasoning: practise both solving and choosing sets. A difficult set can consume the entire section if you cannot decide when to move on.

  • English: combine reading comprehension, grammar correction and vocabulary in context. Keep explanations for errors rather than only answers.

  • Awareness: maintain concise dated notes on banking, finance and relevant current events. Revisit them through questions.

  • Descriptive: practise typed, structured responses with a clear argument, relevant examples and a final edit for accuracy.

Take one diagnostic before deciding you need another full course. A knowledge gap calls for teaching; slow but correct answers call for targeted practice. Watching several teachers solve the same chapter can delay the practice that actually reveals your progress.

6. Online coaching options for different preparation needs

Coaching is optional. These options cover different learning needs.

  • Oliveboard: its PO course lists English/Hinglish study options, live and recorded teaching, mocks and awareness/descriptive support. Confirm the selected batch's schedule and feedback arrangements.

  • Adda247: its Rankers IBPS/SBI Mains 2026 listing shows 248 live classes at a ₹1,499.08 promotional price against ₹6,814. The separate PO interview course lists 49 live classes and a one-to-one mock session at ₹1,299.10 against ₹5,905. These serve different stages; interview access should not be assumed to come with a mains package.

  • Testbook: its PO and broader banking pages provide online preparation options. Its subscription catalogue can combine several examinations, so compare the selected PO course with a sample test and the included doubt support.

  • PracticeMock: its banking catalogue separates mock-only plans from plans with recorded video courses and lists PO interview support. Choose the level of support you need; a mock-only subscription is not a full teaching course. Check current PO coverage and the exact interview service before purchase.

Read AcademyCheck's IBPS PO online-coaching comparison for another shortlist, then verify current offers. You can also compare banking courses on AcademyCheck; inspect the examination and stage because the catalogue includes Clerk and other bank courses.

7. For classroom coaching, evaluate the actual branch

  • Try the branch's demonstration lesson in your preferred medium.

  • Ask for the subject-wise faculty and weekly timetable.

  • Check how missed lessons and doubts are handled.

  • Inspect a current-pattern mains mock and descriptive feedback sample.

  • Calculate the total fee, commute and time commitment before deciding.

Do not infer classroom quality from a national online product or a promotional selection count. Choose a centre whose teaching, practice and feedback fit your gaps and schedule. Request written inclusions and refund conditions rather than relying on an informal promise.

8. Test series: judge explanations, not only volume

Oliveboard and Testbook offer PO practice resources; Adda247 lists bank mock support in its catalogue. Compare a free or sample test before purchasing. Check section marks, timers, descriptive provision, solution language, expiry and whether later official changes will be reflected.

  1. Attempt a mock under the intended conditions.

  2. Separate wrong answers, guesses and slow correct answers.

  3. Review why you chose each time-consuming set.

  4. Repair recurring errors with a small topic set.

  5. Reattempt after a gap to see whether the repair lasted.

A mock percentile measures performance against that test's participants, not an appointment probability. Use trends across comparable tests and your own accuracy record to decide what to study next.

9. Personality assessment and interview tips

PO/MT-XVI includes a mandatory, non-qualifying personality test before interview. The interview carries 100 marks; mains and interview have an 80:20 final weightage. Check the call letter and current notice for applicable qualification rules.

  • Prepare a truthful introduction covering education, work and your banking interest.

  • Review every factual statement in your application; be ready to explain it.

  • Understand basic banking functions and connect a current issue to its practical effect.

  • Practise answering briefly, then expanding when asked.

  • If you do not know something, say so rather than inventing a confident answer.

  • Use a mock interview for specific feedback on clarity and reasoning, not a rehearsed script.

Keep your documents ready alongside interview practice. Strong speaking cannot replace valid eligibility evidence. Practise explaining your background, banking concepts and current developments clearly.

10. A sustainable preparation plan

  • Foundation: diagnose gaps, complete concept blocks and build a daily reading habit.

  • Application: add timed questions and begin awareness/descriptive work early.

  • Simulation: take current-pattern mocks and retain enough time to review them.

  • Stage preparation: after each official result, shift attention to the next stage and its documents.

For the immediate mains stage, revise your established resources and confirm exam-day instructions rather than starting several new courses. For a later target, adapt this sequence to college or work commitments and check a future official notice when it appears.

11. Salary and career expectations

The PO/MT-XVI notice starts basic pay at ₹48,480, with bank-rule allowances. This is not a universal take-home amount. Understand posting conditions, responsibilities and training from the allotted bank's offer before comparing the job only through a salary headline.

12. Frequently asked questions

Is a new IBPS PO 2027 notice confirmed?

The 2027 examination calendar is awaited. Use IBPS notices to plan your application and exam dates.

Can prelims-only coaching cover everything?

Check mains interpretation, awareness, descriptive work and interview provision. Overlapping subjects do not mean all stages are included.

Should I postpone interview preparation until the call letter?

You can prepare your application facts and basic banking understanding earlier. Use the actual call letter for dates, documents and final logistics.
