MCC NEET UG Counselling 2026: Dates, Fees, Choices and Reporting

MCC NEET UG Counselling 2026 Round 1 is at a key stage. The Medical Counselling Committee will close choice filling today, August 17, at 6 pm. Choice locking will start at 10 am on the MCC website, mcc.nic.in.

Candidates seeking MBBS, BDS and other medical seats must check their choices before the deadline. A missed deadline can cost you a seat. And no, keeping the choice list open in another browser tab does not count as a plan.

MCC NEET 2026 Round 1: Important dates

Seat allotment processingAugust 18, 2026
Round 1 provisional resultAugust 19, 2026
Reporting to the allotted collegeAugust 20 to 25, 2026

The revised schedule lists August 18 for seat allotment processing and August 19 for the provisional result. Some earlier updates mentioned August 18 as the result date. Candidates should rely on the latest notice and their MCC login dashboard.

What candidates should do before choice locking

  1. Log in to the MCC counselling portal.
  2. Check the available seat matrix.
  3. Add colleges and courses in the order you prefer.
  4. Review each choice before locking it.
  5. Save or download the final choice list.

Do not fill choices based only on a college name. Check the course, quota, category, fee, location and past closing rank. Add enough choices to improve your chance of getting a seat. Place your true first choice at the top, followed by realistic options.

Which seats are covered by MCC counselling?

MCC conducts counselling for 15% All India Quota seats in government medical colleges. It also handles 100% of seats in deemed universities and central universities. Seats in AIIMS, JIPMER, BHU, AMU, ESIC and selected institutions also come under the MCC process.

State counselling bodies conduct admission for most state quota seats. In general, this includes 85% of government college seats and private college seats within the state. MCC counselling and state counselling are separate processes, so candidates may need to register for both.

Private and deemed medical colleges can have high tuition fees. MCC data shows that MBBS fees at some colleges may reach around Rs 1 crore for the full course. Check the official fee notice before selecting a private seat. Also check hostel, mess, university and other charges.

  • GEN-EWS: 10%
  • SC: 15%
  • ST: 7.5%
  • OBC-NCL: 27%
  • PwBD: 5% horizontal reservation

Your category certificate must follow the required format and remain valid for the counselling year. An incorrect certificate can create problems during verification or admission.

What happens after seat allotment?

After the Round 1 result, download the allotment letter and read the instructions. If you accept the seat, report to the allotted college between August 20 and 25, as per the revised schedule. Carry original documents and copies for verification.

Depending on the counselling rules, candidates may choose to join the seat, take part in upgradation, or exit the round. Read the round-wise rules before making a decision. A choice that seems small on screen can affect the next round.

Common errors to avoid

  • Waiting until the last minute to lock choices

  • Ignoring the fee structure
  • Uploading unclear or incomplete documents
  • Missing the reporting deadline
  • Confusing MCC rules with state counselling rules
  • Trusting social media posts instead of official notices

Use the MCC website for notices, seat matrices, results and reporting instructions. Keep screenshots, payment receipts and the locked choice list in one folder. Your future self will thank you, and your phone gallery will gain one less mystery screenshot.
