JoSAA 2026 Round 5 allotment is out. Check how to view your result, opening and closing ranks, key dates, and next steps including CSAB counselling.
AC Team

The wait is over. JoSAA has released the Round 5 seat allotment result at josaa.nic.in, and this is the last round of the counselling process. If you have been refreshing the portal every hour today, you can finally stop. Your result is live now.
This round works a bit differently from the earlier ones. You cannot float or slide your seat here. Your only two choices are to freeze your seat or exit the process. Simple, but final. So read your allotment carefully before you decide anything.
How to Check Your Round 5 Allotment
Checking your result takes less than five minutes. Here is what to do:
- Go to the official JoSAA website
- Click on the seat allotment link
- Log in using your JEE Main application number and password
- View and save your allotted college and course
Keep a screenshot handy. You will need these details for every step that follows.
Opening and Closing Ranks: A Quick Look
The Round 5 opening and closing ranks are out too. Here is a snapshot of where things stand for Computer Science at the IITs this year:
| Institute | Opening Rank | Closing Rank |

| IIT Bombay | 1 | 67 |
| IIT Delhi | 35 | 128 |
| IIT Madras | 74 | 151 |

Want the full list for every branch and institute? Head to josaa.nic.in, open the eServices tab, click OR-CR 2026, and enter your round, institute type, program and category. The system will pull up the exact numbers for you.
What Happens After Allotment?
Getting a seat is only step one. Here is the full checklist you need to finish before the deadline:
- Confirm your seat on the portal
- Upload all required documents
- Pay the seat acceptance fee
- Respond to any verification queries, if raised
The window for online reporting runs from July 16 to July 20. Miss this and your seat gets cancelled, no exceptions. If there is a query on your documents, you get until July 21 to sort it out.
Students in the NIT+ system also need to pay the Partial Admission Fee between July 22 and July 24. This is separate from the seat acceptance fee, so do not skip it thinking you are done after the first payment.
Seat Acceptance Fee Details
| Category | Fee |
|---|---|
| SC, ST, GEN-PwD, GEN-EWS-PwD, OBC-NCL-PwD, SC-PwD, ST-PwD | INR 15,000 |
| All other candidates | INR 30,000 |
Didn't Get the Seat You Wanted?
If your name does not show up where you hoped, do not panic. Any seat left vacant after this round moves to CSAB special counselling. Registration for CSAB opens on July 28 at csab.nic.in. Note that this needs a fresh registration, even if you already registered for JoSAA. The two systems do not talk to each other automatically.
CSAB is worth considering if your rank was close to a cutoff or if you are open to institutes you missed out on in JoSAA. It is basically a second shot at seats that open up when other students exit or do not confirm their spot.
A Few Things to Remember
- Once you accept a higher preference seat through float or slide in earlier rounds, you cannot go back to your previous seat. That door stays shut for good.
- JoSAA does not send a confirmation email. Everything happens on the portal, so check it directly rather than waiting for an inbox notification.
- Keep your certificates ready in digital form. They get verified online first, and then again in person at the institute later.
- IIT cutoffs are based on JEE Advanced ranks. NIT, IIIT and GFTI cutoffs use JEE Main ranks. Two different scales, so do not compare them directly.
This is the final round, and the process from here is straightforward if you follow the deadlines. Confirm your seat, upload your documents, pay the fee, and you are set. If things do not work out this time, CSAB is right around the corner.
