DU First Cutoff 2026: How to Check Your Seat Allocation Status

If you applied for admission to Delhi University this year, you already know the feeling. You refresh the admission portal every few minutes, hoping the cutoff list finally shows up. Well, the wait is almost over, and here's everything you need to know about the DU First Cutoff 2026.

What is Happening Right Now

Delhi University plans to release the CUET DU CSAS First Cutoff List 2026 for all undergraduate courses today. The university will publish category-wise cutoffs for every course across all its affiliated colleges. If your rank clears the cutoff for your category, you get a call for the admission process.

The official timeline pointed to 5:00 PM, but as anyone who has dealt with government portals knows, official timelines are more like gentle suggestions. Students have been checking the site every hour since morning, and the portal has even shown a Gateway Error at one point. Classic exam season drama.

How to Check Your Cutoff Status

Checking your DU CSAS cutoff status takes just a few steps:

  • Go to admission.uod.ac.in
  • Look for the DU UG Cutoff 2026 PDF link
  • Click on it to open the file
  • Find your desired course and college in the list
  • Compare your rank with the cutoff rank shown

You will also get an email update about the admission process, so keep an eye on your inbox too.

How the CSAS System Actually Works

The Common Seat Allocation System sounds complicated, but the idea behind it is simple. DU looks at your CUET marks, your category, and any quota you claimed. It then compares this against the number of seats available in your chosen course and college.

For every course, DU builds a merit list based on CUET marks in that subject group. It then calls candidates in order until the seats fill up. The marks or rank of the last candidate who gets in becomes the cutoff for that category and course. So the cutoff is not a fixed number decided in advance. It moves based on how many students want a seat and how many seats exist.

What Last Year's Numbers Tell Us

Looking at last year's data gives a good sense of what to expect. Hindu College's B.A. (Hons.) Political Science had the highest UR cutoff among all courses, sitting at 950.58 marks. That's not a typo. Colleges in the North Campus, like Hindu College, Miranda House, and Kirori Mal College, tend to post higher cutoffs than South Campus colleges year after year.

On the other end, B.A. language programmes had the lowest cutoffs. Mata Sundri College for Women's B.A. (Hons.) Hindi had a UR cutoff of just 65.38 last year. So if your score isn't in the 900s, don't panic. There are genuine options waiting for you.

Here's a rough guide based on expected trends for popular courses:

  • B.Com (Hons): 760-800+
  • B.A. (Hons) Economics: 740-780
  • B.A. (Hons) Political Science, Psychology, and similar Humanities courses: 730-770
  • B.Sc (Hons) Computer Science, Maths, Statistics: 720-760
  • B.Sc (Hons) Physics, Chemistry, and other Sciences: 650-720
  • B.A./B.Sc/B.Com (Programme/Pass): 600-680

A Few Things to Keep in Mind

Once DU allocates you a seat, you need to pay the fee to confirm it, even if you plan to try for a better option in the next round. Skipping this step means losing the seat entirely, so don't sit on it.

Also remember that the Simulated Rank shown earlier in your login does not factor in your category. So if you were celebrating based on that number, hold off until the actual cutoff list and your final rank come out.

This year, DU has more than 81,000 seats spread across 66 affiliated colleges, including evening classes. That's a lot of opportunity, even if your first-choice college feels out of reach right now. Some of the best career outcomes come from colleges that don't always top the cutoff charts, so keep an open mind while going through your options.
