NEET 2026 Result: Key Dates, Steps to Check Score and Cutoffs

If you sat for the re-NEET UG exam on June 21, you are probably refreshing the NTA website every hour by now. Fair enough. This exam decides where you spend the next five years of your life, so a little obsessive checking is completely normal.

Here is everything you need to know about the NEET 2026 result, minus the confusion.

When Will the Result Come Out?

NTA has not confirmed an exact date, but multiple reports point to July 20, 2026 as the likely day. The agency already released the provisional answer key on June 25 and the OMR response sheets on July 13, so things are moving on schedule.

Keep your application number and password handy. You will need both the moment the result link goes live.

How to Check Your NEET 2026 Result

  1. Go to neet.nta.nic.in
  2. Find the "candidate activity" section on the homepage
  3. Click on "NEET-UG 2026 result"
  4. Enter your application number, password or date of birth, and security pin
  5. Your result will appear as a PDF on screen
  6. Download it and keep a printed copy for later

That printout matters more than you think. Counselling authorities will ask for it multiple times, so save yourself the last-minute scramble.

What Your Scorecard Will Show

The result PDF carries your name, application number, roll number, exam date, test booklet code, subject-wise responses, and your photograph and signature. It also lists the category-wise cutoff, number of candidates who registered, appeared and qualified, plus the top 100 All India Rank holders and state-wise toppers.

OMR Challenge Window Closes Today

If you spotted an error in your OMR response sheet, today is your last chance to raise an objection. The window shuts at 11 am, and each challenge costs Rs 200. NTA has added a two-factor authentication step here, so you will need an OTP sent to your registered mobile number and email before you can submit anything.

Fee Refund: Deadline Extended to July 31

Candidates who paid the exam fee for the cancelled May 3 exam can now submit their bank details for a refund till July 31. So far, only 11.46 lakh out of the total candidates have done this. If you have not submitted your details yet, do not wait till the last day. Portals tend to crash right when everyone remembers at once.

Marking Scheme

  • Correct answer: +4 marks
  • Incorrect answer: -1 mark
  • Unattempted question: 0 marks

NEET Cutoff: What Counts as Qualifying

The qualifying percentile varies by category.

  • General category: 50th percentile
  • General-PwD: 45th percentile
  • SC, ST, OBC and their PwD sub-categories: 40th percentile

The actual cutoff score depends on how tough the paper was, how many students appeared, and how many MBBS and BDS seats are available this year. For reference, the ST category cutoff has ranged between 93 and 161 marks over the last five years.

Reservation Policy

  • GEN-EWS: 10%
  • SC: 15%
  • ST: 7.5%
  • OBC: 27%
  • PwBD (horizontal): 5%

What Counts as a Good Score?

Based on past trends, scoring above 650 gives you a solid shot at government colleges like AIIMS, VMMC or JIPMER. Anything below that still works for many state and deemed universities, so do not lose hope if you land at 550 or 600.

After the Result: MCC Counselling

Once results are out, qualified candidates need to register on the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) portal to take part in seat allotment. This opens the door to institutions such as AIIMS, JIPMER, PGIMER, ESIC medical colleges, deemed universities, and central university colleges under DU, BHU, AMU and GGSIPU.

Courses You Can Apply For

  • MBBS
  • BDS
  • BAMS
  • BHMS
  • BUMS
  • BSc Nursing
  • Military Nursing Service
  • BVSc and AH

NEET opens doors to more than just MBBS, so keep your options open while filling counselling preferences.

Stay on top of the official website for the latest updates, and keep your login details saved somewhere you will not forget. The wait is almost over.
