JEE Mains 2026 Result: How to Check Your Score and What Comes Next

The wait is over for over 13 lakh students who appeared for JEE Mains 2026 Session 1. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the results on its official website. Students can now check their scores and download their scorecards from jeemain.nta.nic.in.

This year saw strong participation with 13,55,293 candidates registering for the exam. Out of these, 13,04,653 students actually appeared for the test. The numbers show that boys still dominate the engineering entrance space, though girl students are catching up fast.

Perfect Scores and Toppers

Twelve students managed to score a perfect 100 percentile in Session 1. Last year, this number was 14, so the competition remains tough.

Shreyas Mishra from Delhi NCT grabbed the All India Rank 1 position. Narendrababu Gari from Andhra Pradesh came second. The third position went to Shubham Kumar from Bihar, while Kareer Chhillar from Rajasthan secured fourth rank. Bhavesh Patra from Odisha rounded up the top five.

How to Check Your Result

Checking your JEE Mains result is simple. Here's what you need to do:

Open your browser and go to jeemain.nta.nic.in. If the server is slow, you can try using the DigiLocker app as an alternative.

Look for the Candidate Activity section on the homepage. Click on the link that says JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Scorecard.

A login page will open. Enter your application number and date of birth carefully. One wrong digit and you won't be able to access your result.

Fill in the security code (captcha) shown on screen and hit the Submit button.

Your scorecard will appear on screen. Check your NTA Score and download the PDF file. Save multiple copies for future use.

Understanding Your Scorecard

Your scorecard shows separate percentile scores for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. You'll also see your total NTA score. Keep in mind that this is just your percentile score. The final All India Rank and category rank will only come out after Session 2 results in April.

Some questions might have been marked as 'Dropped' in the final answer key. If you attempted those questions, you'll get marks for them regardless of your answer. This could give your percentile a nice boost.

What If Two Students Get the Same Score?

JEE Mains has a clear tie breaker rule. If two candidates have the same total percentile, the system first looks at Mathematics scores. Then comes Physics, followed by Chemistry. If scores are still tied, age and application number come into play.

Watch Out for Fake Websites

Several fake websites have popped up claiming to show JEE Mains results. Stay away from sites like jeemains.in, jeemain.nta.in, or jeemainnic.in. Only use the official jeemain.nta.nic.in website. These fake sites can steal your personal information or infect your device with malware.

Social media is also flooded with edited scorecards showing fake 100 percentile scores. Don't fall for these pranks. Only trust the scorecard you download from the official NTA website.

Checking Results on Mobile

If you're checking results on your phone, turn on Desktop Site mode in your browser. This makes the website layout appear correctly and prevents issues with the Submit button.

Getting an 'Invalid Credentials' error? Don't panic. Sometimes the server gets overloaded and data doesn't match properly. Wait for five minutes and try again.

What Comes Next?

Students who score 99.5+ percentile have a good shot at top NITs like Tiruchirappalli, Surathkal, and Warangal for Computer Science courses.

Session 2 is still ahead. Many experts believe that Session 1 often gives higher percentiles for lower marks because students come even more prepared for Session 2. So if your Session 1 result isn't what you hoped for, you have another chance to improve.

Start preparing your documents for JoSAA counselling. You'll need Class 10 and 12 mark sheets, migration certificate, and caste certificate (if applicable). Scan these documents and keep them ready in a folder.

A Word for Parents

Whatever score your child gets, remember that JEE Mains is just one exam. It's not the end of the world. Session 2 is still coming up, and hard work always pays off in the long run. Your support matters more than the percentile on that scorecard.

The chemistry paper this year was dominated by inorganic chemistry. Students who studied NCERT thoroughly did well in this section. This pattern might continue in Session 2, so adjust your preparation strategy accordingly.

Keep checking the official website for updates on Session 2 dates and JoSAA counselling schedules. The engineering journey is just beginning, and there's a lot more ahead.
