IIIT Allahabad, one of the most sought-after Triple IITs, also becomes a realistic target at this percentile range. The placement records and academic reputation of these institutes match closely with top IITs in many aspects.

The 98 to 99 Percentile Sweet Spot

This range opens up interesting options. You can still target core branches at top 10 NITs, though your branch choice might be slightly restricted compared to 99+ scorers. However, you get excellent opportunities at NITs ranked between 10 and 20.

Institutes like NIT Bhopal, NIT Surat, NIT Nagpur, NIT Jalandhar, NIT Delhi, NIT Hamirpur, and NIT Durgapur become accessible. Triple IITs at Jabalpur, Gwalior, Guwahati, Kota, and Lucknow also offer core branch admissions at this percentile.

The quality of education and placement opportunities at these institutes has improved significantly over the years. Many students choose these NITs over lower-ranked IITs because of better branch options.

What 96 to 98 Percentile Gets You

If you are in this range, you still have good options. You can expect admission in top 20 NITs for various branches, though core branches might be challenging at the very top institutes. However, NITs in the northeast region, along with NIT Patna, NIT Raipur, NIT Agartala, NIT Srinagar, NIT Silchar, and NIT Uttarakhand become viable options.

The 94 to 96 Percentile Bracket

Students scoring between 94 and 96 percentile should look at NITs ranked between 25 and 31. You will likely get admission in various branches, though core branches at top NITs might be out of reach. GFTIs become more accessible in this range, offering multiple course options.

The key is to remain flexible with your branch choice and institute preference. A good branch at a mid-tier NIT often provides better career prospects than a less preferred branch at a top NIT.
