JEE Main Mock Test Error Log: A Revision Template for Physics, Chemistry and Maths
Turn JEE Main mock-test mistakes into focused revision with a copyable error-log template, five error codes, worked fictional examples for Physics, Chemistry and Maths, and a practical review routine.
Hello Future Engineers! After a JEE Main mock, do not only check the score. Record every lost mark in one error log, write one fix and retry the question twice. This turns a mock test into a revision plan for accuracy, speed and score improvement.

Download the editable Excel template
Download the one-page printable PDF
The Excel version has dropdowns for error type, one-day retry, seven-day retry and status. The PDF is designed for students who prefer to fill the log by hand after a mock.
Use only four error types
Error type | Use it when | Your immediate fix |
|---|---|---|
Concept | You did not understand the idea, formula or method. | Revise the concept and solve three similar questions. |
Calculation | Your method was right but the maths went wrong. | Redo every written step and identify the exact arithmetic slip. |
Silly | You misread a sign, unit, condition or option. | Write the specific check you will make next time. |
Time | You spent too long, guessed under pressure or left a solvable question. | Retry with a realistic time limit and note the faster route. |
The simple table to fill after every mock
Q no. | Subject | Chapter | Error type | What went wrong? | One-line fix | Retry tomorrow | Retry after 7 days |

Three short JEE examples
Physics
Rotational motion - Concept: Used linear momentum conservation where angular momentum was needed. Fix: revise the condition and solve three similar questions.
Chemistry
Coordination compounds - Silly: Read “incorrect” as “correct.” Fix: circle negative words before solving.
Maths
Definite integration - Time: Continued with a long expansion instead of checking symmetry. Fix: spend 20 seconds checking standard properties first.
A 15-minute routine after each mock
List every wrong, guessed and unattempted question. Do not record only the most difficult ones.
Choose one error type. Use the first cause, not the final symptom. A calculation error caused by a weak concept belongs under Concept.
Write one short fix. “Revise chapter” is too vague. Write the formula, trigger or step you need to remember.
Mark the retry dates. Retry the same question tomorrow and a similar question after seven days.
Count the pattern. If one error type or chapter repeats, give it the next revision slot.
Follow the 1-day and 7-day reattempt cycle
On the next day: solve the original question without looking at the solution. If you still need help, keep the entry open and revise the prerequisite concept.
After seven days: solve a similar question under a time limit. Mark the entry Fixed only if you can complete it independently and explain the method.
This cycle separates recognition from real recall. Understanding a solution immediately after a mock does not prove that you can reproduce it a week later.
Use the log to improve accuracy, speed and score
Accuracy: track whether Concept, Calculation and Silly errors are falling across mocks.
Speed: record chapters where Time errors repeat and practise a quicker method or better question selection.
Score: prioritise avoidable errors. Fixing questions you nearly solved is often faster than adding a completely new chapter during the final revision phase.
Review the log once a week. Choose the top two repeated chapters and the most common error type. That becomes the next week's focused revision list.
How to use this error log with ALLEN Career Institute Sikar
Named coaching example: ALLEN Career Institute Sikar is a relevant example because its AcademyCheck profile lists IIT JEE preparation, regular assessments, performance tracking and doubt-clearing support. The current branch profile shows an AcademyCheck rating of 4/5 from 3 reviews, checked on 18 September 2026. This is a branch-specific profile signal, not a rating for every ALLEN centre or product.
If you study at ALLEN Sikar, or at another coaching with a similar test-and-doubt system, use the log in three steps:
After each weekly, part or full-syllabus test: transfer every repeated Concept, Calculation, Silly or Time error into the table instead of relying only on the institute's score report.
During doubt support: take the exact question, your original working and the one-line error diagnosis. Ask the teacher to correct the reasoning step, not simply repeat the full solution.
During performance review: compare the coaching report with your one-day and seven-day reattempts. A higher mock score is useful, but the log shows whether the same cause is actually disappearing.
AcademyCheck view: structured coaching becomes more useful when its tests and doubt sessions are connected to the student's own error pattern. The coaching name does not replace the template; it supplies teachers, tests and review points that help the student close specific open errors.

FAQs
Should I log every incorrect question?
Log wrong, guessed and unattempted questions that were within your syllabus. If several questions have the same cause, keep separate question numbers but use one common fix.
How long should the error log take?
A first pass should take about 15 minutes after solution review. Keep entries short enough that you can use the log after every mock.
When is an error fixed?
Mark it Fixed only after you solve the original question the next day and a similar question after seven days without copying the solution.
Can I use the error log with a coaching test series?
Yes. Keep the institute's analysis report, but add your own cause and one-line fix. Use teacher support for recurring Concept errors and keep the entry open until you can solve a similar question independently.
Should I choose coaching only because it runs many mock tests?
No. Ask to see one current mock report, the doubt-resolution process and how teachers review repeated errors. Test volume helps only when the feedback leads to a correction you can reproduce.
Summary
Use one table, four error types and two reattempt dates. The value of the log is not the number of rows; it is whether repeated mistakes fall from one mock to the next. Download the Excel or printable PDF, use it after every JEE Main mock and let the pattern decide your next revision task. If you attend a coaching such as ALLEN Career Institute Sikar, connect each open entry to the next relevant doubt session or test review instead of treating the score report as the end of analysis.
