Govt Awards Reliance 10GWh ACC Battery Capacity Plant Under PLI

Reliance Industries Limited was awarded 10 GWh ACC capacity under the PLI scheme, aimed at enhancing domestic manufacturing and reducing import dependence. The scheme received bids from seven companies for a total capacity of 70 GWh, with Reliance achieving the highest score through the Quality & Cost Based Selection (QCBS) mechanism.

Five other bidders—ACME Cleantech Solutions, Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies, Waaree Energies, JSW Neo Energy, and Lucas TVS—were waitlisted. The PLI ACC initiative reflects India's commitment to becoming a global leader in ACC battery manufacturing as part of its National Programme on Advanced Chemistry Cell Battery Storage.

Food inflation to moderate, but any surprise in monsoon or floods may trigger it upwards: UBI report

Union Bank of India indicates that food inflation, which has recently moderated, is expected to decline further in the coming months due to a progressing Southwest monsoon and sufficient water levels in reservoirs. The improved sowing of Kharif crops, including paddy, pulses, oilseeds, millets, and sugarcane, is contributing positively, with overall crop sowing increasing by 1.91% compared to the previous year.

However, the report warns that any negative surprises, such as deficient rainfall or flooding, could push food inflation upward again. Rainfall has recently moved from a deficit to an 8% surplus, with above-normal rainfall expected in September 2024, except in some northern and northeastern regions where below-normal rainfall is predicted.
