Data Protection Rules to be published within a month: Union IT minister
The Indian government is set to release a draft of the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules for public consultation within the next 30 days, according to IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The rules are essential for the implementation of the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023, which was signed into law in August. The draft addresses key issues such as the processing consent for children’s data, with details to be disclosed upon release. The Data Protection Board, central to enforcing the DPDP Act, will operate as a fully digital office, handling data breach cases and appeals. A digital platform for the Board is currently under testing and will be launched after the finalization of the rules. The government has allocated ₹2 crore to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) for the establishment and operation of the Board, with this amount expected to increase as the Act is fully implemented. The public will have a minimum of 60 days to respond to the draft rules once they are published

Antony Blinken says Israel accepted proposal for Gaza ceasefire talks, urges Hamas for negotiations
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced that Israel has accepted a proposal aimed at bridging gaps in ongoing ceasefire negotiations with Hamas. Speaking in Tel Aviv, Blinken emphasized the urgency of the situation, urging Hamas to agree to the proposal to move forward with further negotiations. The proposal, backed by the United States, Egypt, and Qatar, remains under discussion, with key details still being finalized.
During a constructive meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Blinken confirmed Israel's support for the proposal. However, Hamas has yet to agree, leaving significant challenges before a final deal can be reached. Blinken highlighted the importance of clear commitments from all parties and warned that delaying could complicate or derail the peace process.
Negotiations are intensifying amid growing tensions in the Middle East, including the risk of an Iranian attack on Israel. Blinken’s visit marks his ninth trip to Tel Aviv since the conflict between Israel and Hamas began in October. The situation remains delicate, with ongoing efforts to finalize a hostage deal and establish a ceasefire
