The Uttar Pradesh Education Services Selection Commission (UPESSC) has opened applications for 1,936 Assistant Professor posts in degree colleges across Uttar Pradesh. The recruitment includes posts in co-educational and women’s colleges under the Higher Education Department.
The notification was issued on September 8, 2026. Eligible candidates can apply online until October 7, 2026. This date is also the last day to pay the application fee. Before filling out the form, candidates must complete One Time Registration (OTR) on the UPESSC portal.

Eligibility criteria
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in the relevant subject with at least 55% marks. They must also meet the required eligibility condition through one of the following:
- National Eligibility Test (NET)
- State Level Eligibility Test (SLET)
- State Eligibility Test (SET)
- A PhD degree, where accepted under the recruitment rules

Age limit and relaxation
The maximum age limit is 62 years. The age will be calculated as on July 1, 2026. Age relaxation will apply to eligible categories as per Uttar Pradesh government rules. Candidates should keep valid category and age-related documents ready in case they are asked to produce them during verification.

UPESSC Assistant Professor exam pattern
The selection process has three stages:
- Written examination
- Interview or personality test
- Document verification
The written test will carry 360 marks. It will have 120 objective questions, with two hours to complete the paper.

Each correct answer will carry three marks. One mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. The interview or personality test will carry 40 marks. Since negative marking applies, candidates should avoid guessing when they have no clear idea of the answer.

- Log in and select the Assistant Professor application under Advertisement Number 04/2026.
- Fill in the form in English and check all details before saving it.

Documents and file size rules
The photograph must be in JPG or JPEG format and between 30 KB and 300 KB. The signature must be between 10 KB and 200 KB. Educational, caste and category certificates should be uploaded in PDF format, with file sizes between 50 KB and 500 KB.
After submission, candidates should print three copies of the completed application form for their records. Keep the payment receipt, registration number and submitted form in one folder. This small step can save time when the admit card or document verification notice arrives.
