NEET PG 2026 Answer Key, Response Sheet, Result Date and Counselling Steps

More than 2.65 lakh candidates are waiting for the NEET PG 2026 answer key and response sheet. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) is expected to release both documents on its official websites, natboard.edu.in and nbe.edu.in.

The provisional answer key will be released for the first time after directions from the Supreme Court. It will help candidates check their recorded answers, compare them with the official answers and estimate their probable score. In exam season, refreshing a website every five minutes feels like a full-time job, but the official login page remains the safest source.

NEET PG 2026 answer key release date

NBEMS has not announced the exact date and time for the NEET PG 2026 answer key. The exam was held on August 30, 2026, in a single shift. The NEET PG 2026 result is scheduled to be declared by September 30, 2026.

The exam had 180 multiple-choice questions carrying a total of 720 marks. This is a change from the earlier pattern of 200 questions. Candidates who faced a disruption at exam centres in Jaipur appeared for a re-examination on September 5, 2026.

What the NEET PG response sheet will show

The response sheet will display the answers marked by each candidate. The provisional answer key will show the answer considered correct by NBEMS. Candidates can use both documents to review their performance.

  • Question ID for each question
  • Answer selected by the candidate
  • Correct answer listed by NBEMS
  • Marks awarded for each response

NBEMS may also provide a process for raising objections against answers. Candidates should check the official notice for the objection window, fee and required documents before submitting a challenge.

How to download the NEET PG 2026 answer key

  1. Open natboard.edu.in or nbe.edu.in.
  2. Go to the Examinations or Entrance Exam section.
  3. Select NEET PG 2026.
  4. Click the link for the application or candidate login.
  5. Enter your user ID and password.
  6. Open the answer key and provisional response sheet link.
  7. Check the question IDs and recorded answers.
  8. Download and save the documents for future use.

Keep your login details ready. If the website slows down after release, wait for some time and try again. A crowded result page is common when lakhs of candidates log in together.

NEET PG 2026 score calculation

The marking scheme is simple:

  • Four marks for each correct answer
  • One mark deducted for each incorrect answer
  • No marks for an unanswered question

Use this formula to estimate your score:

Estimated score = Number of correct answers × 4 − Number of incorrect answers × 1

For example, if you answered 120 questions correctly and 40 incorrectly, your estimated score would be 440 marks. This score is only an estimate until NBEMS publishes the final result.

NEET PG qualifying cut-off

The qualifying percentile depends on the candidate’s category. The cut-off score in marks will be known after the result process.

CategoryQualifying percentile
General and EWS50th percentile
General PwBD45th percentile
SC, ST and OBC, including PwBD40th percentile

Meeting the qualifying cut-off does not ensure a preferred branch or college. Admission depends on rank, category, seat availability, choices and counselling rules.

NEET PG result and counselling process

NBEMS is expected to publish the result online by September 30, 2026. Candidates will receive an All India Rank and a scorecard. The result will be valid for the 2026-27 admission session only.

After the result, the Medical Counselling Committee will conduct counselling for the All India Quota and other listed seats. NEET PG scores are used for admission to MD, MS, PG Diploma, Post-MBBS DNB, Direct six-year DrNB and Post-MBBS NBEMS Diploma courses. State counselling bodies will manage state quota seats.

Candidates should keep these documents ready for counselling:

  • NEET PG scorecard
  • Admit card
  • MBBS degree or provisional certificate
  • Internship completion certificate
  • Medical registration certificate
  • Valid identity proof
  • Category or disability certificate, where applicable

NEET PG tie-breaking rules

If two or more candidates receive the same score, NBEMS will apply tie-breaking rules. These include fewer incorrect answers overall, fewer incorrect answers in the sections in the stated order, higher aggregate marks in MBBS professional examinations and older age.

Until the answer key is released, candidates should rely only on updates posted by NBEMS. Keep a copy of the response sheet, note any disputed questions and check the MCC website once the counselling schedule is announced.
