If you are a Class 12 student who wants to apply for answer sheet verification or re-evaluation, you now have an extra day to submit your application. CBSE announced on Friday that it has pushed the deadline from June 6 midnight to June 7 midnight.
The extension comes as a relief to many students who faced problems accessing the post-result services portal that opened on June 2.
Why Did CBSE Extend the Deadline?
Several students reported issues while trying to view their answer books and submit applications through the CBSE portal. The technical problems prevented many from completing the verification and re-evaluation process within the original timeframe.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), CBSE stated that the extension was made "in the interest of students" to provide additional time and support for completing the application process.
What Can You Apply For?
The portal allows students to request two main services:
Verification of Scanned Answer Sheets
You can report specific issues with the scanned copies of your answer books. This includes:
- Missing pages in your answer sheet
- Missing supplementary sheets
- Missing maps or graphs
- Blurred or unclear pages
- Incorrect answer books uploaded
- Evaluation done against a different question paper set
Re-evaluation of Answers
If you believe your answers were not evaluated correctly, you can apply for re-evaluation. A fresh examiner will check your answer sheet again.
The Controversy Behind the Extension
The extension comes at a time when CBSE faces serious questions about its evaluation system. Some Class 12 students claimed that the scanned copies of their answer sheets showed handwriting that did not match their own. This raised concerns about possible mix-ups in the on-screen marking system.
The issue became significant enough that the Cabinet Secretariat formed a one-member committee to investigate how CBSE procured services for its on-screen marking system.
CBSE has also filed a police complaint regarding cyber attacks on the post-result portal, which may have contributed to the access problems students experienced.
What You Should Do Next
If you plan to apply for verification or re-evaluation, here are the steps you need to take:
Visit the CBSE portal: Log in to the official post-result services portal using your credentials.
Review your answer sheets: Download and check the scanned copies of your answer books for any issues.
Submit your application: Fill in the required details and submit your verification or re-evaluation request before June 7 midnight.
Pay the fees: Complete the payment for the service you are requesting.
Keep Track of Important Updates
This situation shows why staying updated with official announcements is important. CBSE can make changes to deadlines and procedures based on circumstances. Follow the official CBSE social media accounts and check the board's website regularly.
The board has asked students to note the revised schedule and submit their applications accordingly. Make sure you complete the process well before the midnight deadline to avoid last-minute technical issues.
Remember, this extension applies only to Class 12 students. If you are applying for verification or re-evaluation, use this extra day wisely to ensure your application goes through without problems.
