Azim Premji Scholarship Offers ₹30,000 Yearly Support to Girls

Paying for college can be hard for many families. The Azim Premji Foundation has launched its scholarship programme in Delhi to help more girls continue their education after Class 12.
Under the Azim Premji Scholarship for Delhi (NCT), up to 20,000 girls may receive financial support this year. Each selected student will get ₹30,000 every year, from the first year of college until she completes her undergraduate degree or diploma course.
What the scholarship covers
The scholarship amount can help students pay college fees and meet other education-related costs. These may include books, travel, study materials and other expenses linked to their course.
The total support will depend on the length of the course. Students may receive up to ₹1.5 lakh over a period of two to five years. The amount is paid each year during the approved course period.
For a student who is already counting every rupee before the new academic year, ₹30,000 can make a real difference. It may help her stay in college instead of putting her studies on hold.
Who can apply?
The scholarship is open to girls who meet the key education and admission rules. An applicant must:
- Have completed Classes 10 and 12 in a government school.
- Have studied in one of the 21 eligible States or Union Territories.
- Have secured admission to the first year of an undergraduate degree or diploma course.
- Study at a recognised institution anywhere in India.
Delhi is among the eligible locations. Other listed States and Union Territories include Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Telangana.
Students should check the official scholarship rules before applying. Details such as the list of approved courses, documents, deadlines and payment conditions may change for each application cycle.
How the application process works
The application process is online and free. Students should apply through the official Azim Premji Foundation website and avoid third-party websites that ask for a fee.
Before starting the form, applicants should keep common documents ready. These may include:
- Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets
- Proof of admission to the first year of the course
- Government school details
- Identity and address proof
- Bank account details in the student’s name, if required
Applicants should enter their name and academic details as shown on their official records. A small spelling mismatch can create a large headache, and paperwork already has enough tricks up its sleeve.
Scholarship reach across India
The Delhi launch forms part of a larger national plan. The Foundation aims to support up to 5 lakh girls across India each year. Since most undergraduate courses last about three years, it estimates that close to 15 lakh girls could have an active scholarship at one time.
The programme began in 2024. According to the Foundation, more than 1.9 lakh girls have received support since its launch. The scheme is now available to students who completed their schooling in 21 States and Union Territories.
Why this support matters
Many girls complete school but do not enter college. Family income, travel costs, course fees and the need to start work can all affect this decision. A scholarship cannot remove every barrier, but it can reduce the cost of staying in education.
Higher education can give students access to more career options and skills. It can also help them make choices about work, income and family life. For this reason, the Foundation says the scholarship aims to address financial barriers that affect girls’ access to higher education.
