  • Preliminary Examination (Prelims):


The Prelims stage comprises two papers: General Studies Paper-I and General Studies Paper-II (CSAT). On the other hand, CSAT tests candidates' aptitude and analytical skills. Both are MCQ papers of 2 hours each.


  • General Studies Paper-I: This paper covers a wide array of subjects including History, Geography, Polity, Economy, Environment, Science and Technology, and Current Affairs. It requires a thorough understanding of key concepts, historical events, geographical features, political structures, economic theories, environmental issues, scientific advancements, and recent developments. It's score is used to make the merit list for Mains exam.


  • General Studies Paper-II (CSAT): CSAT assesses candidates' aptitude and analytical skills through questions on comprehension, logical reasoning, analytical ability, data interpretation, decision-making, and problem-solving. It requires candidates to demonstrate proficiency in quantitative aptitude, verbal reasoning, and non-verbal reasoning. This is only qualifying in nature and aspirant has to score at least 67/200 marks.


  • Main Examination (Mains):


The Main Examination consists of nine papers, out of which seven are compulsory and two are optional. Compulsory papers include Essay, General Studies (GS) Papers I, II, III, and IV, as well as Indian Language and English Language Papers. Optional papers allow candidates to choose subjects based on their interests and strengths.


  • Essay: The Essay paper evaluates candidates' ability to articulate their thoughts coherently and express their opinions on diverse topics ranging from socio-political issues to philosophical themes. Candidate has to write 2 essays of 1200 words each in 3 hours.


  • General Studies Papers: GS Papers I, II, III, and IV delve deeper into various aspects of Indian society, governance, international relations, ethics, integrity, and aptitude.   • Personality Test (Interview):


Candidates who qualify the Mains examination are called for the Personality Test, commonly known as the Interview. This stage evaluates candidates' personality traits, communication skills, and overall suitability for a career in the Civil Services.
