West Bengal ANM GNM Result 2026: Rank Card and Final Answer Key Guide

If you sat for the West Bengal ANM/GNM Nursing entrance exam this year, you know the waiting game all too well. The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) is set to release the final answer key, followed by the result and rank card, on its official portal wbjeeb.in. Here is everything you need to know, laid out in plain terms so you don't have to refresh ten browser tabs at once.

What's Coming and When

The provisional answer key came out on July 10. Candidates then got a window till July 17 to raise objections against their OMR responses online. Once WBJEEB reviews these objections, it will publish the final answer key. The result and rank card follow soon after, usually within a fortnight of the provisional key's release.

There is no common merit list published for everyone to see. Instead, WBJEEB puts your rank directly into your rank card, which sits behind your login. So no scrolling through a giant PDF looking for your name. You log in, and it's right there.

How to Download the Final Answer Key

  1. Visit wbjeeb.in
  2. Select the West Bengal ANM GNM exam from the list
  3. Look for the latest notification
  4. Click the final answer key link
  5. Download the PDF

This key becomes your best friend when calculating your probable score, so keep it handy.

How to Download Your Rank Card

  1. Go to wbjeeb.in
  2. Choose the ANM GNM exam under the examination tab
  3. Click the rank card link, which opens a new window
  4. Log in using your application number and password
  5. Your rank card will appear on screen
  6. Download it and keep a copy for later

Forgot your password? No panic needed. The portal has a 'retrieve password' option. Just enter your application number and answer the security questions to reset it.

Understanding the Marking Scheme

The exam has two question types. Category 1 has 85 questions, each carrying 1 mark, with a deduction of 0.25 marks for a wrong answer. Category 2 has 15 questions where more than one option is correct, and you need to mark both correct options to get the full 2 marks.

Here's a quick breakdown of the subjects and their weightage:

Physical Science2025
Basic English1515
Mathematics1010
General Knowledge1010

What Your Rank Card Actually Tells You

Your rank card is not just a piece of paper (or PDF) with your name on it. It shows your common rank, your category rank, and your counselling status for both ANM and GNM courses. Think of it as your entry ticket to the next stage.

Life After the Result: Counselling

Once results are out, WBJEEB usually kicks off counselling within three days. The board does not publish a seat matrix before every round, except for the mop-up round. So you will need to register for counselling, list your preferred courses and colleges, and wait for the board to prepare a consolidated merit list based on seat availability, your choices, and any reservation claims you have.

The entire counselling process happens online, from registration to choice filling. No standing in queues, no carrying stacks of documents to an office. Just you, your laptop, and hopefully a stable internet connection.

A Few Things Worth Knowing

  • WBJEEB does not release a topper list for this exam. So don't hold your breath waiting for that.
  • Sometimes the ANM cutoff turns out higher than the GNM cutoff for certain categories, which surprises a lot of candidates every year.
  • If you're from outside West Bengal and don't hold a domicile in the state, you cannot apply for this exam or its government college seats. Bihar-domiciled candidates, for instance, are not eligible.
  • This year, the OBC caste list has been revised and reduced in number, which might work in favour of OBC category candidates when it comes to cutoffs.

Keep your application number and password saved somewhere easy to find, maybe not on a sticky note on your monitor, but close enough. You'll need them at every step, from checking the answer key to downloading your rank card to filling counselling forms. Stay tuned to wbjeeb.in for the exact release dates, and check back here for direct links the moment they go live.
