UP Board Adds Student Signatures To Admit Cards From 2027

Starting with the 2027 board exams, Class 10 and 12 students will have their signatures printed right on their admit cards. This might sound like a small change, but it could make a big difference in how exams are conducted across the state.
Why This Change Is Happening
Over the past few years, UPMSP has dealt with several cases of impersonation during board exams. Some cheating rackets got creative, using photo manipulation to swap in proxy candidates, often called "solvers," who would appear for exams on behalf of someone else. A few of these cases even led to FIRs.
That is a lot of effort just to avoid studying, don't you think? But jokes aside, this kind of cheating is unfair to honest students who put in the hours to prepare. UPMSP wants to close this loophole for good, and signatures are their next step.
How The Signature System Will Work
The board is already collecting signatures along with photographs as part of the ongoing registration process for the 2026-27 academic session. Once printed on the admit card, this signature will not just sit there looking official. It will actually be matched against the student's signature on the answer sheet and the attendance register during the exam.
Think of it like a mini identity check at every step. If your signature does not match, questions will be asked. This makes it much harder for anyone to slip in and take an exam pretending to be someone else.
Important Dates To Remember
If you are a private candidate appearing for the High School or Intermediate exams, here is what you need to keep track of:
- Application forms and exam fees can be submitted at forwarding centres until August 5
- The exam fee must be deposited in the treasury through a single challan by August 10
- Missed the deadline? You can still pay with a late fee of Rs 100 per student until August 16
School principals also have their own set of deadlines. They need to upload students' educational details and fee information on the UPMSP website by midnight on August 16. After that, they must submit the photograph-based list of registered students along with the treasury sheet by September 30.
What This Means For Students
UP Board Secretary Bhagwati Singh believes this move will strengthen identity checks and make the entire exam process more secure. For genuine students, this is good news. It means a fairer playing field where hard work actually counts for something.
For those who might have been tempted to try the old "send a friend" trick, well, it is probably time to start studying instead. Signatures are hard to fake convincingly, especially when they get checked multiple times during the exam.
This is not the first time boards across India have tightened exam rules, but it shows how simple ideas, like matching a signature, can go a long way in building trust in the system.
