AC Team

If you gave the WBJEE 2026 exam, today is a big day. The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board is releasing the Round 1 seat allotment result on July 7. This is the moment where all your prep and waiting turns into an actual seat at a college. So grab your roll number and password, and let's get you through this step by step.
Where and When to Check Your Allotment
The result goes live at wbjeeb.nic.in/wbjee. That is the only place it will show up. No emails, no text messages, no surprise phone calls. If someone tells you otherwise, they are probably confused, so send them this article instead.
| Event | Date |
|---|---|
| Seat Allotment - Round 1 | 07 July 2026 |
| Payment of Seat Acceptance Fee | 07 July 2026 to 11 July 2026 |
How to Check WBJEE 2026 Seat Allotment Result
The process is simple and takes less time than deciding what to eat for lunch.
- Go to wbjeeb.nic.in/wbjee
- Click on the 'Seat Allotment' link
- Log in using your roll number and password
- View your allotment status on screen
Keep your login details handy before the site opens. Nothing ruins the excitement like forgetting a password at the worst possible time.
What Happens After You Get a Seat
Once allotted, you need to confirm your admission before July 11. This confirmation happens through payment of the seat acceptance fee, which is INR 5000 and is refundable. Pay it online through net banking, credit card or debit card. If you skip this step, the admission process simply will not move forward for you.
After allotment, you get three choices: Accept, Reject or Upgrade. Think of it like a food delivery app, except instead of choosing between two restaurants, you are choosing your next four years.
Types of Candidates After Round 1
WBJEEB sorts candidates into four categories after the first round:
- Type A: Already allotted and eligible for upgradation through their existing choice list
- Type B: Not allotted a seat and continuing with the same choices for Round 2
- Type C: Non-allocated and non-responsive candidates
- Type D: Allotted candidates who want to submit a fresh choice list
Fresh registrations are also open for Round 2, so if you missed the bus in Round 1, there is still a seat on the next one.
WBJEE 2026 Cutoff
Along with the allotment, the Round 1 cutoff is also expected to be out. This tells you the opening and closing ranks for each college and course. WBJEEB decides this by looking at last year's trends, how tough this year's paper was, how many students qualified and how many seats are available. If your rank falls within the cutoff range for a course, your chances of getting it go up.
Documents You Will Need
Keep these ready well before the admission confirmation, because scrambling for documents at the last minute is nobody's idea of fun.
- 10th admit card or birth certificate for date of birth proof
- 10th marksheet
- 12th marksheet
- Domicile certificate, if applicable
- Category certificate, if applicable
- PwD certificate, if applicable
- Income certificate, if applicable
Fun fact, your 12th marks do not count for the seat allotment ranking, but you still need to meet the minimum percentage requirement during document verification. So do not toss those marksheets aside just yet.
A Quick Look at Closing Ranks
To give you a sense of how competitive things get, here is a peek at closing ranks from institutes like Jadavpur University and University of Calcutta for popular courses such as Computer Science, Information Technology and Electronics. Jadavpur University's Computer Science and Engineering under the All India quota closed around rank 78, while under the Home State quota it stretched to rank 238. Other branches like Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Engineering had closing ranks ranging from a few hundred to a couple of thousand, depending on the quota and institute.
These numbers shift every year, so treat them as a general guide rather than a guarantee.
Counselling Rounds and Reservation Rules
WBJEEB is running three rounds of counselling this year. Each round gives you a chance to either accept your seat, upgrade it or try again with fresh choices. One thing to note, non-domicile candidates are not eligible for reservation benefits and will need to apply under the General Category.
Self-financing institutes also reserve 10 percent of their approved seats for candidates with JEE Main scores, so if you took that exam too, keep an eye on those options.
Whatever result shows up on your screen today, remember this is one step in a longer process. There are still rounds ahead, upgrade options on the table and time to make the right call for your future college and course.
