What Information Does Your Rank Card Show
Your WBJEE 2026 rank card contains several important details. You will find your roll number, application number, and date of birth at the top. The card shows your total marks and composite marks in Paper 1 (Mathematics) and Paper 2 (Physics and Chemistry).
The rank card displays your General Merit Rank (GMR) or Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR), depending on which stream you appeared for. Your qualifying status and photograph also appear on the card. Keep this document safe because you will need it during counselling and admission.
WBJEE 2026 Exam Statistics
The numbers tell an interesting story this year. A total of 1,20,856 candidates registered for the exam, but 94,901 actually appeared. The exam took place at 264 centres across West Bengal, Assam, and Tripura.
Among the qualified candidates, 66,383 are male students and 26,368 are female students. Two candidates identified as third gender also qualified. From within West Bengal, 73,665 candidates have qualified, while 1,988 from outside the state made it through.
When Will WBJEE 2026 Counselling Start
The counselling process is expected to start by June 29. The board has not yet announced the exact dates, but students should keep checking the official website for updates.
WBJEE 2026 counselling will be conducted online at wbjeeb.nic.in/wbjee. The board will conduct two rounds of counselling. You will need to pay a registration fee of INR 500 through net banking, credit card, or debit card.
Documents You Need for Counselling
Start gathering your documents now to avoid last minute rush. You will need your Class 10 admit card or birth certificate to verify your date of birth. Keep your Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets ready.
If you belong to a reserved category, arrange your category certificate. Students from outside West Bengal need a domicile certificate. PwD candidates should have their disability certificate, and those applying under the economically weaker section need an income certificate.
Popular Colleges Under WBJEE
Your WBJEE rank opens doors to several reputed engineering colleges. Jadavpur University remains the most sought after institution, followed by IIEST Shibpur. Other popular choices include various colleges under MAKAUT, Heritage Institute, and IEM.
Jadavpur University's Computer Science and Engineering branch typically closes at a rank around 202 in the first round. Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering closes around rank 445, while Mechanical Engineering goes up to rank 1010.
What If You Have Issues with Your Rank Card
If you spot any error in your rank card, you have 24 hours to raise your concern. You can email the WBJEEB authorities with details of the error. Alternatively, you can visit the WBJEEB office in person to submit your grievance.
Make sure you keep your application number and password safe. Any mismatch during login will block your access to the rank card. If you face technical issues while downloading, try using a different browser or device.
Can JEE Main Qualified Students Apply
Yes, students who have qualified JEE Main can also register for WBJEE counselling. This gives them an additional opportunity to secure admission in West Bengal engineering colleges. They will need to register during the counselling process with their JEE Main scores.
Understanding the Merit Lists
WBJEEB prepares two separate merit lists. The General Merit Rank (GMR) list is for engineering courses, while the Pharmacy Merit Rank (PMR) list is for pharmacy courses. Your rank in these lists depends on your performance in the respective papers.
The board does not set any minimum qualifying marks. All candidates who appeared for the exam can register for counselling, regardless of their scores. However, your rank will determine which colleges and branches you can get.
How Seat Allotment Works
During counselling, you will need to fill in your college and branch preferences. The board will allot seats based on three factors: your WBJEE rank, your preferences, and seat availability.
The first round of seat allotment typically fills most seats in top colleges. The second round gives you another chance if you did not get your preferred choice in the first round. Some candidates also use the second round to upgrade their allotment.
Remember that you cannot raise objections against the final answer key. The board's decision on the answer key and result calculation remains final.
