Non-domicile candidates can apply too, but they won't get reservation benefits. They must compete through the General Category.

- Class 10 admit card or birth certificate
- Class 10 marksheet
- Class 12 marksheet
- Domicile certificate (if you're a West Bengal resident claiming domicile benefits)
- Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC candidates)
- PwD certificate (if applicable)
- Income certificate (for fee concession or TFW seats)
How to Register for WBJEE 2026 Counselling
The registration process is simple. Follow these steps:
Step 1: Visit the official website wbjeeb.nic.in/wbjee
Step 2: Look for the counselling registration link on the homepage and click it
Step 3: Choose your exam type (WBJEE/WBJEE & JEE Main/JEE Main only)
Step 4: Enter your application number and password to log in
Step 5: Fill in your personal details, academic information, and contact details
Step 6: Pay the registration fee of INR 500 through net banking, credit card, or debit card
Step 7: Start filling your choice of colleges and courses
Step 8: Arrange your choices in order of preference
Step 9: Review all choices before final submission
Step 10: Lock your choices before July 5, 2026
Understanding Choice Filling
Choice filling determines which college and course you get. You should fill at least 20 choices, but the more you add, the better your chances of getting a seat.
List your choices based on what you want most. Put your dream college and course first, followed by other options you would accept. The system will try to allot you the highest preference possible based on your rank and seat availability.
A word of caution: once you lock your choices, you cannot change them. Make sure you review everything twice before hitting that lock button.
Payment Rules You Must Know
WBJEEB accepts only online payments. You can use net banking, credit cards, or debit cards. Cash payments or demand drafts won't work.
After you receive a seat allotment, you need to pay INR 5,000 as seat acceptance fee. This amount is refundable if you don't join the college later.
Important Dates for All Three Rounds
WBJEE 2026 counselling happens in three rounds. Here's the complete schedule:
Round 1:
- Registration and choice filling: June 30 to July 5
- Seat allotment result: July 7
- Seat acceptance fee payment: July 7 to July 11
Round 2:
- Fresh registration and choice filling: July 13 to July 17
- Seat allotment result: July 21
- Seat acceptance fee payment: July 21 to July 23
Round 3:
- Fresh registration and choice filling: July 24 to July 26
- Seat allotment result: July 28
- Seat acceptance fee payment: July 28 to July 30
What Happens After Seat Allotment
When the board announces seat allotment results on July 7, log in to check your status. You'll get three options:
Accept: Choose this if you're happy with the allotted seat and don't want to participate in further rounds.
Reject: Select this option if you don't want the allotted seat. You can register again in the next round.
Upgrade: Pick this if you want to keep the current seat but also try for a better option in the next round.
Can You Register Again in Round 2
Yes, fresh registrations open for each round. If you didn't get your preferred college in Round 1, you can fill fresh choices in Round 2.
But there's one exception: if you got your first preference in Round 1, you cannot participate in further rounds. The system considers your admission process complete.
Special Notes for JEE Main Candidates
If you appeared for JEE Main and want admission through WBJEE counselling, you can register. However, you'll compete for only 10% of seats reserved in self-financing institutions.
During registration, you need to enter your JEE Main application number and password instead of WBJEE credentials.
Understanding TFW Seats
Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) seats appear as separate choices during counselling. If you're eligible for TFW, you'll see these options listed separately for each institute and branch.
These seats are for students from economically weaker sections. You need to submit income certificates to claim these seats.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Don't wait until the last day to register. The website might slow down due to heavy traffic.
Fill as many choices as possible. Some students fill only 5 to 10 choices and later regret not having more options.
Double check your academic details. Wrong information can lead to rejection during document verification.
Keep your payment receipt safe. You'll need it if any payment disputes arise.
What If the Website Shows Maintenance Message
The official website went down briefly for maintenance on June 30. If you see a similar message, don't panic. Wait for some time and try again. The board resolves technical issues quickly.
Getting Help During Registration
If you face any technical problems or have questions about the process, you can contact WBJEEB through their official website. They provide helpline numbers and email support during the counselling period.
You can also check the official information bulletin available on the website. It contains detailed instructions about every step of the counselling process.
Colleges Participating in WBJEE Counselling
Major engineering colleges in West Bengal participate in this centralised counselling. This includes prestigious institutions like Jadavpur University, Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST) Shibpur, and colleges under MAKAUT.
During choice filling, you'll see the complete list of participating colleges and available branches. Take time to research each option before making your choices.
The counselling process might seem complex at first, but it's quite straightforward once you start. Just make sure you complete each step carefully and submit everything before the deadline. Your engineering career in West Bengal starts with these simple steps.
