UGC NET June 2026 Re-Exam Result: How to Check Scorecard and Qualifying Status

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the UGC NET June 2026 re-examination results for English, Commerce and Sociology. Candidates who took the fresh papers can now check their scorecards, marks and qualifying status on the official UGC NET website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in.

The re-examination was held on September 9 and 10, 2026. English and Commerce candidates appeared on September 9, while the Sociology paper took place on September 10. The result also includes the final answer key for these three subjects.

UGC NET June 2026 re-exam result: Key figures

NTA conducted the re-examination at 454 centres across 272 cities. A total of 1,96,491 candidates registered for the three subjects, while 1,20,355 candidates appeared for the fresh test.

As per the result data released by NTA:

• 824 candidates qualified for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).
• 11,610 candidates qualified for Assistant Professor eligibility.
• 23,154 candidates qualified under the PhD-only category.

The scorecard will show the category in which a candidate has qualified. Candidates should check this detail with care, as it may affect their next step in research, teaching or PhD admission.

Why were the three UGC NET papers conducted again?

NTA ordered the re-examination after receiving complaints about errors in the original question papers. A committee reviewed the complaints and found several problems in the papers.

These included factual errors, typing and translation mistakes, incorrect names and book titles, grammar and punctuation issues, repeated questions and the use of terms that were not standard. Some questions also had problems with their wording.

NTA said that removing a few questions after the answer key review would not fix the full issue. It therefore decided to conduct fresh examinations for English, Commerce and Sociology. Candidates did not have to pay an extra examination fee for the re-exam, which was one less thing to worry about during an already stressful process.

4. Enter the required login details, such as the application number, date of birth or password.
5. Submit the details to open the scorecard.
6. Check your subject, marks and qualifying status.
7. Download the scorecard and save a copy for future use.
8. Take a printout if you need to submit the document for admission or recruitment.
