UGC NET June 2026 Re-Exam Announced for Jalandhar Centre Candidates

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has stepped in to fix a problem that left some UGC NET candidates unable to complete their examination. The agency announced a re-exam for students who faced technical difficulties at one specific centre in Jalandhar.

This is good news for those who thought their chance might have slipped away due to circumstances beyond their control.

What Happened at the Jalandhar Centre

On June 22, 2026, during Shift I of the UGC NET June 2026 examination, candidates at the CT Group of Institutions Examination Centre in Jalandhar ran into serious technical problems. Some students could not start their exam at all. Others began but could not finish.

The issue was reported by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the organisation responsible for conducting the examination at that location. NTA acted on this report and released an official notice acknowledging the disruption.

The good part? Only this one centre was affected. Students at other examination centres across the country completed their tests without any trouble.

Who Can Appear for the Re-Exam

Not every candidate who appeared for UGC NET on that day will get a chance to retake the exam. The re-test is only for those who were present at the CT Group of Institutions Examination Centre in Jalandhar during Shift I and could not take or complete their examination because of the technical glitch.

If you were at a different centre or appeared in a different shift, this re-examination does not apply to you. NTA has been clear about keeping the eligibility limited to genuinely affected candidates.

When and Where Will the Re-Exam Take Place

The re-examination has been scheduled for July 5, 2026, at 3:00 PM. Students will appear at the same examination centre where the problem occurred, which is the CT Group of Institutions in Jalandhar.

This gives affected candidates about two weeks to prepare and mentally reset after the stressful experience of not being able to complete their exam the first time.

The Exam Was Not Cancelled Nationwide

Some rumours suggested that the entire UGC NET June 2026 examination had been cancelled. NTA has put those rumours to rest. The exam proceeded smoothly at all other centres across India.

The decision to conduct a re-test applies only to the specific group of candidates affected by the technical failure at the Jalandhar centre. Everyone else's results will be processed as planned.

How to Get Your Revised Admit Card

NTA will issue revised admit cards to all eligible candidates. These admit cards will contain important details such as the exact reporting time, examination schedule, and any other instructions you need to follow on July 5.

Candidates should keep checking the official NTA website regularly. The agency will upload these admit cards and share updates as the re-examination date approaches.

Make sure you download and print your admit card as soon as it becomes available. You will not be allowed to enter the examination hall without it.

What NTA Said in Its Official Notice

In the official notice issued by the Director (Exams) at NTA, the agency expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to students. It acknowledged that the disruption was unfortunate and assured candidates that steps were being taken to ensure fairness.

The notice made it clear that only Shift I candidates from the Jalandhar centre would be allowed to appear for the re-test. This decision was made to give those students a fair chance without compromising the integrity of the examination process for others.

What Should Affected Candidates Do Now

If you were one of the candidates affected by this issue, here are a few things you should do right away.

First, visit the official NTA website and look for updates related to the UGC NET June 2026 re-examination. Bookmark the page so you can check it daily without having to search again.

Second, watch out for the release of your revised admit card. Download it immediately and verify all the details printed on it. If you spot any error, contact NTA through the official helpline or email.

Third, use the extra time wisely. You have been given another opportunity, so make the most of it. Revise your notes, practise mock tests, and stay calm.

Finally, plan your travel and accommodation if needed. Since the exam is at the same centre in Jalandhar, make sure you reach the venue well in advance on July 5.

A Fair Chance for Everyone

Technical glitches during exams can be frustrating. Students prepare for months, and when something goes wrong on exam day, it feels unfair. But NTA's decision to conduct a re-examination shows that the agency is committed to fairness.

This move ensures that no candidate is penalised for a problem they did not cause. It also sends a positive message to students that their efforts and time are valued.

So if you were affected, take a deep breath. You still have a shot at doing well. Prepare with focus, stay positive, and walk into that exam hall on July 5 with confidence.
