UGC NET June 2026 Answer Key: Release Status, Objection Fee and Steps

UGC NET June 2026 answer key live update: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to release the provisional answer key soon on the official website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in. However, as of August 10, 2026, the agency has not announced a confirmed release date.

The delay has left many candidates checking the website more often than their exam notes. The provisional answer key will help applicants check their marked answers, estimate their scores and raise objections before the final answer key and result are issued.

When was the UGC NET June 2026 exam held?

The UGC NET June 2026 examination took place on June 22, 23, 24, 25, 29 and 30. The NTA also held a retest for the June 22 paper at the CT Group of Institutions centre in Jalandhar on July 5, 2026.

The examination covered 87 subjects. An NTA source told NDTV that the large number of subjects made the process a major exercise. The source also said that the results would be released soon.

UGC NET 2026 answer key objection fee

Candidates can challenge an answer if they find a valid error. The fee is Rs 200 for each answer challenged. This amount is a non-refundable processing fee.

Only challenges submitted through the official objection window will be considered. Each claim must include a clear reason and supporting proof. The NTA will not review challenges that are:

• Submitted after the deadline
• Filed without proper reasoning
• Sent without supporting evidence
• Submitted through email, post or any platform other than the official link
• Not paid for during the objection period

Steps to challenge the provisional answer key

1. Go to ugcnet.nta.nic.in.
2. Click the link named Challenge(s) regarding Answer Key.
3. Log in with your application number and password.
4. Select View Question Paper to check your recorded responses.
5. Open View/Challenge Answer Key.
6. Select the question and answer option you want to challenge.
7. Click Save Your Claims.
8. Upload a document or source that supports your claim.
9. Pay Rs 200 for each challenged answer and save the payment receipt.

The objection window may remain open for only two to three days, as per the official information. Candidates should check the opening and closing time before submitting a claim. A missed deadline cannot be fixed with a polite email, however well written it may be.

UGC NET marking scheme

Each correct answer carries two marks. The exam has no negative marking for incorrect answers. No marks are awarded for unanswered questions.

To estimate your score, count the number of correct responses shown in the response sheet and multiply it by two. This estimate may change if the NTA accepts objections and updates the final answer key.

How are JRF and other eligibility categories decided?

UGC NET eligibility depends on a candidate's performance in both sections of the exam taken together. The final cut-off also depends on factors such as the subject, category and number of available slots.

Candidates may qualify for one of these categories:

1. Junior Research Fellowship and appointment as Assistant Professor
2. Appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to PhD
3. Admission to PhD only

A candidate who qualifies only for Assistant Professor and PhD admission, or for PhD admission only, will not receive the JRF award.

Can candidates request re-evaluation?

No. The NTA guidelines state that grievances about the answer key will not be accepted after the result and NTA score are declared. Candidates must use the official objection window if they believe an answer is incorrect.

Where will the scorecard and certificate be available?

The NTA has stated that candidates may get an extra facility through DigiLocker and the UMANG app to download the NTA scorecard and other examination records. The UGC NET certificate will be made available after the result is declared.
