UGC NET June 2026 Answer Key: Download Steps and Challenge Process

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to release the provisional UGC NET June 2026 answer key soon. Candidates who appeared for the exam can check the answer key, response sheet and question paper on the official website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in.

The answer key will help candidates compare their answers with the official responses and estimate their marks. It can also help them decide whether they need to challenge any answer. Keep your login details ready, since the website may become busy once the answer key link goes live.

UGC NET June 2026 answer key date

As of August 4, 2026, NTA has not announced the final date and time for the provisional answer key. The agency is expected to publish an official notice before activating the download link.

NTA conducted the UGC NET June 2026 examination from June 22 to 30, 2026. It also held a re-examination on July 5, 2026, for the CT Group of Institutes. Candidates should check the answer key for the correct exam date and shift before calculating their scores.

How to download the UGC NET answer key

  1. Visit the official website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in.
  2. Find and open the link for the UGC NET June 2026 answer key.
  3. Enter your application number and date of birth or password.
  4. Type the security PIN shown on the screen.
  5. Submit the details to open the answer key and response sheet.
  6. Download the file and save a copy for your records.

Use the official website instead of links shared on social media. An answer key PDF may look simple, but the wrong file can lead to a very wrong score estimate. That is a small mistake with a large headache attached.

Details shown on the provisional answer key

Candidates should check the following information after downloading the document:

  • Name of the examination
  • Examination date
  • Subject ID
  • Exam shift
  • Question ID
  • Correct option ID

The question ID and option ID help candidates match each question with the answer recorded by NTA. Candidates should also open their response sheet and compare the marked answers with the provisional key.

How to challenge an answer key

NTA allows candidates to challenge answers in the provisional answer key if they believe an answer is incorrect. The challenge window will be available on the official website for a limited period.

  1. Log in through the UGC NET answer key challenge link.
  2. Select the question or questions that you want to challenge.
  3. Choose the answer option that you believe is correct.
  4. Upload supporting documents or references, if required.
  5. Pay the challenge fee shown in the official notice.
  6. Submit the objection and save the confirmation page.

The challenge fee and last date will be announced by NTA. Candidates should read the notice before making a payment. NTA will review the objections and publish the final answer key after the challenge process. Changes made after review may affect the marks of all candidates who attempted the question.

UGC NET qualifying marks

The qualifying marks are based on the aggregate score in both papers taken together. The minimum marks listed for UGC NET are:

CategoryMinimum aggregate marks
General or unreserved40%
OBC non-creamy layer, SC, ST, PWD and transgender candidates35%

Meeting the minimum qualifying marks does not by itself confirm selection. The final result also depends on the subject, category, available slots and the merit rules set for the examination.

What candidates should do after downloading the key

Save the answer key, response sheet and question paper in separate folders. Check every question with care and note any answer that you want to challenge. Use the marking scheme given in the official exam notice to estimate your score rather than relying on guesswork.

Candidates should also check the NTA website for updates on the objection window, final answer key, result date and scorecard. Keep the application number and password safe until the result and certificate-related processes are complete.
