The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has opened applications for the Junior Engineer Examination 2026. The recruitment drive will fill 1,748 posts in central government departments and offices. The examination will also cover Scientific Assistant posts in the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Age limit for SSC JE 2026
The Commission will calculate age as on August 1, 2026. The rules follow the Department of Personnel and Training guidelines.
For posts with an upper age limit of 30 years, candidates must have been born between August 2, 1996, and August 1, 2008, both dates included.
For posts with an upper age limit of 32 years, candidates must have been born between August 2, 1994, and August 1, 2008, both dates included.

SSC JE exam pattern and schedule
The examination will take place in Computer-Based Test mode. It will have two papers. Paper 1 is expected in October or November 2026, while Paper 2 is expected in December 2026.
