AC Team

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is expected to release the answer key for the SSC GD Constable 2026 exam soon. If you appeared for the exam that ran from April 27 to May 30, you will want to check your responses against the official answers.
The answer key will be available on the official website at ssc.gov.in. You will need your login credentials to access it. This article walks you through everything you need to know about the SSC GD 2026 answer key.
What Is the SSC GD Answer Key?
The answer key is a document that contains the correct answers to all questions asked in the exam. The SSC releases a provisional answer key first, which gives you a chance to challenge any answers you believe are incorrect.
After the challenge period ends, the Commission reviews all objections and releases the final answer key. This final key is used to calculate your score and prepare the result.
When Will SSC Release the Answer Key?
The SSC has not announced an exact date yet. Based on past patterns, the answer key usually comes out within four to five days after the exam ends. Since the SSC GD 2026 exam concluded on May 30, candidates can expect the answer key anytime now.
How to Download the SSC GD 2026 Answer Key
Follow these simple steps to download your answer key:
- Go to the official SSC website at ssc.gov.in
- Click on the login tab on the homepage
- Enter your username and password (these are the credentials you used during registration)
- Look for the answer key link and click on it
- Your answer key will appear on the screen
- Download and save it for future reference
Make sure you have your roll number and password handy. Without these, you will not be able to access the answer key.
What Can You Do With the Answer Key?
Once you download the answer key, you can calculate your estimated score. The SSC GD exam follows a simple marking scheme:
- You get 1 mark for each correct answer
- You lose 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer
Match your responses with the official answers and apply this formula to estimate your raw score. This will give you a fair idea of how well you performed.
How to Challenge the Answer Key
If you find any answer in the provisional key that you think is wrong, you can raise an objection. Here is how:
- Visit ssc.gov.in and log in with your credentials
- Click on the answer key notification link
- Navigate to the 'Challenge Answer Key' tab
- Select the question you want to challenge
- Upload supporting documents or references that prove your point
- Pay the objection fee of ₹50 per question online
The objection window stays open for a limited period only. You must submit your challenges within this time frame. If your objection is valid and accepted by the Commission, your fee will be refunded automatically.
What Happens After You Submit Objections?
The SSC reviews all objections submitted by candidates. A panel of subject experts examines the challenges along with the supporting documents. If they find merit in your objection, the answer key is revised.
After all objections are reviewed, the Commission releases the final answer key. This final key is used to prepare the result. No further changes are made after this point.
Understanding the SSC GD Selection Process
The answer key is just one step in the entire selection process. Here is what the full process looks like:
- Computer-Based Exam (CBE): This is the first stage, which you have already completed
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Candidates who clear the CBE will be called for this test
- Physical Standard Test (PST): Your height, chest measurements and other physical parameters are checked
- Detailed Medical Examination (DME): This is the final stage before the merit list is prepared
Only candidates who clear all these stages will be considered for final selection.
What Is a Safe Score for SSC GD 2026?
The safe score varies based on your category. Candidates in the Unreserved category should aim for 140 to 150 marks out of 160 to have a good chance of clearing the exam.
For reserved categories like OBC, SC, ST and EWS, the expected cut off is lower. However, these are estimates based on previous years. The actual cut off depends on factors like:
- Total number of vacancies (25,487 posts were announced this year)
- Number of candidates who appeared for the exam
- Difficulty level of the questions
Documents Needed for Document Verification
If you clear the CBE, PET and PST, you will be called for document verification. Keep these documents ready:
- Class 10 certificate (for age and educational qualification proof)
- Admit card
- Photo identity proof (Aadhaar card, voter ID or passport)
- Caste certificate (if applicable)
- Domicile certificate
- NCC certificate (if you are claiming bonus marks)
- Recent passport-size photographs
- Any other certificate for relaxation or reservation
Make sure all documents are original. Photocopies will not be accepted. If you fail to produce the required documents or provide false information, your candidature will be cancelled.
SSC GD Post Preferences
At the time of application, you were asked to choose your post preferences. These preferences matter during the final allocation. The SSC conducts recruitment for various posts under different forces:
- Constable (GD) in BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP and SSB
- Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles
- Sepoy in NCB
Allocation is done based on your rank, category, post preference and vacancies available in each force.
How Is the Final Merit List Prepared?
The merit list is prepared based on your performance in the Computer-Based Exam. Marks from the physical tests are not added, but you must qualify them to stay in the race.
If you have an NCC certificate, you get bonus marks. These bonus marks are added to your CBE score before the final merit is prepared. The cut off is calculated separately for each force and category.
What If the Exam Was Cancelled at Your Centre?
In some centres like Kanpur and Moga, the exam was cancelled due to technical issues. If your exam was cancelled, the SSC will announce fresh dates soon. Keep checking the official website for updates.
You will be allowed to appear for the exam again without any penalty. Make sure you download your admit card when the new dates are announced.
Stay Updated With Official Notifications
The SSC does not send individual emails or SMS to candidates. All updates are posted on the official website only. Bookmark ssc.gov.in and check it regularly.
You can also enable notifications on your device so you do not miss any important announcements. Many candidates miss out on the objection window simply because they were not aware of the dates.
The answer key is your first real indicator of how you performed. Download it as soon as it is released, calculate your score and raise objections if needed. Good luck with your results.
