School Holiday on September 7, 2026: State-Wise Rain Updates

Will schools remain closed on Monday, September 7, 2026? For most students in India, schools are expected to reopen and run as usual. However, heavy rain, flooding, waterlogging and landslides may lead to local school holidays in some districts.

There is no nationwide school holiday announced for September 7. The final decision may vary by state, district and even school. Parents should check official updates before sending children out, especially in areas that have faced heavy rain.

Uttarakhand school holiday update

Uttarakhand needs close attention because heavy rain can create serious travel risks in hill areas. The India Meteorological Department has warned of isolated heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning in parts of the state.

Rain can trigger landslides, mudslides, blocked roads and sudden rises in rivers and streams. Districts such as Nainital and Dehradun may take local decisions based on road and weather conditions. Other vulnerable districts may also issue closure orders if the situation worsens.

At present, there is no blanket holiday for all schools in Uttarakhand on September 7. Schools may open where no separate order has been issued. Parents should check for a fresh notice instead of relying on an earlier closure message.

Can heavy rain close schools in Uttarakhand?

Yes. An IMD weather warning does not mean that every school will close. District Magistrates and local authorities may review rainfall, road access, landslide threats, flooding and transport before making a decision.

Some orders may come late at night or early in the morning. If a nearby road is flooded or blocked, parents should not take risks while waiting for an official message. A school bag can wait. A dangerous road should not get the final say in your morning plan.

Delhi-NCR school status

Schools in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad and Gurugram are expected to remain open on September 7 unless a new order is issued. Rain and thunderstorms may affect the region, and waterlogging could slow traffic on some roads.

There is no blanket holiday announcement for Delhi-NCR at present. Schools or local authorities may issue a separate advisory if rain becomes severe. Parents should check the school app, website, SMS or class WhatsApp group before leaving home.

Himachal Pradesh school holiday update

In Himachal Pradesh, school attendance may depend on local road conditions. Heavy rain can cause landslides, falling debris, blocked routes and delays in school transport.

District administrations may announce holidays in areas where travel is unsafe. Some schools may also shift classes online if students and staff cannot reach the campus. This does not mean that every school in the state will remain closed. The valid notice will come from the local administration or the school.

Uttar Pradesh school status

Several parts of Uttar Pradesh may receive rain, with isolated areas facing heavy rainfall. Schools are expected to function as normal unless the district administration announces a closure.

Authorities may shut schools in low-lying or flood-prone areas if waterlogging, damaged roads or unsafe transport affects travel. A statewide holiday message should not be treated as valid unless it comes from an official government source.

Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal

Schools in Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal are generally expected to remain open on September 7. Rain and thunderstorms may affect some areas, but there is no broad closure announcement for these states.

Local officials can still order schools to close if flooding, dangerous roads or transport problems create a safety risk. School-level notices may also change reporting times or attendance plans.

What parents should check before school drop-off

  • The latest SMS, email or WhatsApp message from the school
  • The school website, app or parent portal
  • District Magistrate and district administration updates
  • State education department notices
  • IMD weather warnings for the local area
  • Road, bridge and public transport conditions

If an official holiday has been announced, students should not report to school even if the weather looks clear. If there is severe flooding, a landslide or an unsafe route near home, safety should come first.

Important: Weather-related school decisions can change at short notice. Verify the latest notice from the school, district administration or education department before travelling on September 7, 2026.
