SBI PO 2026 Registration Closes Today: Fee, Eligibility and Steps to Apply

If you have been putting off your SBI PO application, today is the day to stop scrolling and start filling that form. The State Bank of India closes registration for Probationary Officer recruitment 2026 on July 8, and once the clock runs out, there is no second chance.

This year, SBI wants to fill 1500 PO posts across its branches. That is a big number, and a real shot for graduates who want a stable, respected career in banking. But the seat does not come to you. You have to apply, and apply correctly, before the window shuts.

Where to Apply

Head straight to the official SBI careers page. Skip any other website that promises a shortcut, because banking recruitment only happens through official channels.

  • sbi.bank.in
  • sbi.bank.in/web/careers/current-openings

Steps to Fill the Application

The process is simple once you know the order:

  • Visit the SBI Careers website
  • Open the PO Recruitment 2026 notification
  • Click Apply Online
  • Register with your email ID and mobile number
  • Enter personal, educational and communication details
  • Upload your photograph, signature, thumb impression and handwritten declaration
  • Pay the fee online
  • Preview the form carefully
  • Submit and download the confirmation page

Take your time on the preview step. Once you hit submit, changes are not entertained. Read that line again if you tend to rush through forms.

Application Fee

The fee depends on your category:

CategoryFee
UR, OBC, EWSINR 750
SC, ST, PwBDExempted

Vacancy Breakdown

Out of 1500 posts, 1446 are regular vacancies, and 54 come from backlog seats (18 SC and 36 ST). Here is the full category-wise split:

CategoryVacancies
UR588
EWS144
OBC390
SC216
ST108

Who Can Apply

You need a bachelor's degree from a recognised university in any stream. SBI does not care if you studied history, engineering or philosophy, as long as you have that degree. Final-year students can also apply, but they must show proof of graduation during document verification.

Age limits and relaxations follow government norms, with extra relaxation for SC, ST, OBC, PwBD and ex-servicemen candidates. Check the official notification for exact age brackets before you assume you fit the bracket.

Documents You Will Need

Keep these ready before you start the form, because hunting for a scanned signature at 11:55 PM is not a fun way to spend your evening:

DocumentFile Size
Photograph20kb to 50kb
Signature10kb to 20kb
Thumb Impression20kb to 50kb
Handwritten Declaration50kb to 100kb

You will also need identity proof, category certificate if applicable, and your graduation details on hand.

What Happens After You Apply

Once the window closes, SBI scrutinizes every application and releases the admit card for the Preliminary Examination a few weeks later. The selection process runs through Preliminary Exam, Main Exam, Psychometric Test where applicable, Group Exercise and Interview. Clear each stage, and you land on the final merit list.

A Few Things to Remember

Do not submit more than one form. SBI accepts only the latest completed application, and multiple entries can create confusion or even lead to cancellation. If your payment fails but money gets deducted, wait for the bank to process a refund before trying again. And once you submit the form, exam centre requests and detail corrections are generally not accepted, so proofread like your career depends on it, because in a way, it does.

Servers tend to slow down on the final day, so if you still have your form open in another tab, this is your sign to finish it now rather than fight the last-minute rush.
