PU LLB Entrance Exam 2026: Answer Key Released, How to Download and Raise Objections

The wait is over for thousands of law aspirants. Panjab University released the provisional answer key for the PU LLB Entrance Exam 2026 on June 28. Students who appeared for the exam can now check their responses, calculate tentative scores, and prepare for the next stage of admission.

The exam covered admissions to both BA LLB and BCom LLB courses across four centres: Department of Laws, Chandigarh (300 seats), and three regional centres at Muktsar, Ludhiana, and Hoshiarpur (60 seats each). The total intake stands at 480 seats for 2026.

Understanding the Exam Pattern

The PU LLB 2026 entrance test was a 90-minute offline exam with 100 multiple-choice questions worth 100 marks. The paper tested students across three core areas.

Current Affairs and General Knowledge carried the heaviest weight with 40 questions for 40 marks. This section covered national and international events, Indian economy basics, awards, sports, science and technology, geography, environment, and current legal developments.

English Language proficiency formed another major chunk with 40 questions and 40 marks. Grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension skills were tested in this section.

Reasoning and Aptitude was the smallest section with 20 questions worth 20 marks. It included puzzles, seating arrangements, direction sense, coding-decoding, syllogisms, series completion, blood relations, and statement-conclusion questions.

The marking scheme awards one mark for each correct answer but deducts 0.25 marks for every wrong response. This negative marking makes accuracy more important than attempting all questions.

How to Download the Answer Key

Getting your hands on the answer key takes just a few steps. Visit the official PU website at pglaw.puchd.ac.in. Look for the PU LLB Entrance Exam answer key link on the homepage.

Click the link to open the PDF. You can view it online or download it to your device. Save a copy on your computer or cloud storage. You will need it if you plan to raise objections later.

Once downloaded, open the PDF alongside your question paper. Compare each answer carefully. Note any differences between your responses and the official key. Calculate your total score using the marking scheme.

Raising Objections: What You Need to Know

Students have a narrow window to challenge the provisional answer key. The objection period runs from June 28 to June 30, 2026. You must submit your concerns before the deadline ends.

To lodge an objection, log in to the portal using your registered mobile number and password. Click the 'Submit Objections' button on the answer key page. Choose whether your objection relates to the question itself or the given answer.

Fill in the required details and provide supporting evidence for your claim. Hit submit once you have completed the form. University officials will review all objections and release a revised answer key based on valid feedback.

The final answer key will be published after cross-verification. This version serves as the definitive reference before officials declare the result.

Expected Cutoff Trends

Panjab University maintains minimum qualifying criteria for shortlisting candidates. The cutoff depends on factors like total applicants, seat availability, exam difficulty, and performance distribution.

Since both BA LLB and BCom LLB draw from the same 480-seat pool, slight variations may occur in course-specific cutoffs. The heavy weightage on Current Affairs and English means strong performance in these sections will boost your chances.

With the answer key released alongside the question paper, students can quickly gauge their scores. This early clarity helps shape realistic expectations about where the final cutoff might settle.

Exam Day Experience: What Candidates Reported

Most students described the 2026 paper as having moderate difficulty. The Legal Aptitude section was entry-level and manageable for well-prepared candidates. General Knowledge and Current Affairs covered a broad range but remained accessible.

English proficiency questions tested grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension at a standard level. The Reasoning section, though smallest in size, demanded accuracy due to the negative marking scheme.

Candidates could write the exam in English, Hindi, or Punjabi. This flexibility helped students work in their most comfortable language. The 90-minute duration felt sufficient for most test-takers to complete all sections.

Documents You Should Keep Handy

Save the downloaded answer key PDF and your question paper. Keep a physical printout of your hall ticket until the admission process concludes. You may need these documents during counselling or if any discrepancies arise.

If you raised objections, maintain a record of your submission. Note the questions you challenged and the evidence you provided. This documentation proves useful if you need to follow up with university officials.

What Comes Next

After the objection window closes on June 30, officials will examine all submissions. They will release the final answer key incorporating valid corrections. This process typically takes a few days.

Once the final key is published, the university will announce the result date. Students who clear the exam with the minimum cutoff percentile can download their scorecards from the official website. You will need your application number and password to access the scorecard.

Qualified candidates will then participate in counselling. Seat allotment follows merit rank, distributing the 300 Chandigarh seats and 60 seats at each regional centre. During counselling, you can select your preferred course and college based on your rank and seat availability.

The provisional answer key marks a significant milestone in your admission journey. Use this time to assess your performance, raise valid objections if needed, and prepare for the next phase. Good preparation now sets the stage for a smooth admission process ahead.
