Parliamentary Panel to Review NEET UG Exam Conduct and NMC Role

The NEET UG 2026 exam controversy just got a new chapter. A parliamentary health panel will sit down next week to go through the entire exam conduct process and check how the National Medical Commission handled its duties. If you thought this story was winding down, think again.

What Is Happening on July 16?

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health and Family Welfare has fixed July 16 for this review. Ram Gopal Yadav heads this committee, and his team plans to look closely at the NMC's regulatory role under the NMC Act 2019. They want to know if the rules were followed, and if not, why.

A day before, on July 15, the same panel will spend time discussing something equally important: how affordable public healthcare is for regular citizens. So it's a packed week for these lawmakers.

Third Time's Not Always the Charm

Here's a fact that might surprise you. This is not the first panel to dig into the NEET UG 2026 mess. Two other parliamentary committees have already called officials in to answer questions about the exam process. That makes this the third round of scrutiny on the same issue.

Clearly, someone up top wants answers, and they want them fast.

Who Is Being Questioned?

The health committee has already summoned some heavyweight names. Higher Education Secretary Vineet Joshi and NTA Director General Abhishek Singh are expected to explain the security gaps that allowed the alleged leak. The NMC Chairperson will also attend, along with senior CBI officials who are handling the criminal investigation.

Basically, everyone who had a hand in organising, regulating, or investigating the exam will be in the room, and they better come prepared.

A Quick Recap of the Mess

In case you missed the earlier updates, here's the short version. The original NEET UG exam took place on May 3. Soon after, cheating allegations surfaced, and the government cancelled the exam altogether. A re-test was then held on June 21 to give students a fair shot at competing.

Since then, the paper leak row has become a talking point across Parliament, news channels, and probably every coaching class WhatsApp group in the country.

What This Means for NEET Aspirants

If you are a student waiting for clarity on NEET UG 2026, this parliamentary review matters. Lawmakers are expected to push for stricter measures to stop future paper leaks. That could mean tighter exam security, better monitoring systems, or even structural changes at the NTA.

For now, all eyes are on July 16. We will keep tracking this story and update you the moment there is fresh news on NEET exam conduct, NMC's role, or any decisions taken by the panel.

Stay tuned, because this NEET saga is far from over.
