NTA to Address CUET UG 2026 Exam Centre Issues and Opens Scribe Details Submission Window

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has stepped in to address growing concerns from students appearing for the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2026. Many candidates found themselves allocated exam centres far from their preferred cities, causing stress and inconvenience.

Through its official social media handle, NTA acknowledged the issue. The agency explained that the problem stems from two main factors: a high concentration of candidates in a few cities and limited availability of Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres.

But here's the good news. NTA is not sitting idle. The agency stated it is actively reviewing these concerns and working to find solutions that will reduce the burden on affected students.

"We understand that some of you have been allotted exam centres far from your preferred cities, and we've received a number of concerns regarding this. This situation is largely due to the high concentration of candidates in a few cities and limited CBT test centre availability," NTA shared.

The agency has asked students to remain patient, promising an update within the next couple of days. If you're one of the affected candidates, keep checking NTA's official channels for the latest information.

Scribe Details Submission Window Now Open

In parallel news, NTA has opened a dedicated window for candidates with disabilities to submit details of their scribes. This facility is available on the official CUET portal at cuet.nta.nic.in.

If you had opted for the scribe facility during your application, you can now fill in the required information. The submission window opened immediately after the announcement, and the last date to submit is May 5, 2026. Mark this date on your calendar.

How to Submit Your Scribe Details

The process is simple. Here's what you need to do:

First, visit the official CUET portal and log in using your application number and password. Once you're on the homepage, look for the 'Register Scribe Details' option. This option will only appear if you had selected the scribe facility during your initial application.

Click on the option, choose the appropriate scribe type, and fill in all the relevant information. Make sure you double-check everything before submitting. Once you submit the form, the details will be visible in your 'View Application Form' section and on the confirmation page.

CUET UG 2026 Exam Details

The CUET UG 2026 examination is scheduled between May 11 and May 31, 2026. The exam will take place in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across multiple shifts.

The test covers a wide academic range. You'll find 13 languages, 23 domain-specific subjects, and a general test component. This structure gives students flexibility in choosing subjects that align with their university preferences and career goals.

NTA has already released the exam city intimation slip. Candidates can download this from the official portal. Admit cards are expected to be issued soon, so keep checking the website.

What Makes This Year Different

The concentration of candidates in major cities has created logistical challenges. Unlike previous years, the demand for test centres in certain locations has exceeded the available infrastructure. This has forced NTA to allocate centres in nearby cities or towns for some candidates.

While this creates temporary inconvenience, NTA's commitment to finding a resolution shows the agency is taking student concerns seriously. The promise of an update within days suggests potential solutions might include additional test centres or rescheduling options for affected candidates.

Stay Updated and Prepared

If you're appearing for CUET UG 2026, make sure you stay connected with official channels. Visit the NTA website regularly, follow their social media accounts, and check your registered email address.

For candidates who need the scribe facility, don't wait until the last minute. Submit your details well before May 5 to avoid any technical glitches or last-minute rush.

Keep your documents ready, including your application number, password, and any supporting documents for the scribe facility. Having everything organized will make the process smooth and stress-free.

The situation with exam centres is being handled, and NTA's quick response shows they understand the importance of making this exam accessible and convenient for all students. Your job is to stay informed, follow the deadlines, and prepare well for the exam itself.
