NEET MDS Counselling 2026 Revised Round 1 Dates and Registration Guide

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has revised the Round 1 schedule for NEET MDS Counselling 2026. The update matters for dental graduates who want admission to Master of Dental Surgery courses through the central counselling process.

The revised timetable is available on the official MCC website, mcc.nic.in. Candidates should check the portal before taking any step, since counselling dates can change. A missed deadline can cost more than a late-night cup of tea.

NEET MDS Counselling 2026 revised schedule

The updated Round 1 schedule covers candidates applying for seats under the 50 per cent All India Quota (AIQ). It also covers 100 per cent seats in Deemed Universities, Central Universities and the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS), as listed by MCC.

Round 1 activity Revised date
Registration and fee payment Open until August 29, 2026
Choice filling and locking August 19 to August 29, 2026
Round 1 seat allotment result September 2, 2026
Reporting and joining at the allotted institute September 3 to September 11, 2026
Verification of joined candidates by institutes September 12 to September 13, 2026

The schedule shows that registration and choice filling overlap. Candidates must complete both tasks within the given dates. Completing registration alone does not place a candidate in the seat allotment process. Choices must be filled and locked as well.

Who can take part in the counselling?

To take part in NEET MDS Counselling 2026, candidates must have qualified the NEET MDS examination. They must also meet the minimum qualifying percentile set for their category.

Meeting the NEET MDS cut-off is only one part of the process. Candidates must also follow the eligibility rules issued by MCC and the conditions set by each participating institute. These conditions may relate to the BDS qualification, internship completion, registration with the required dental authority and other admission rules.

Before registration, check the official counselling notice and the information bulletin. If an institute has a special requirement, do not assume that your NEET MDS qualification alone will cover it.

Steps to follow during Round 1

  1. Visit the MCC website: Use the official portal at mcc.nic.in. Avoid links shared through unknown social media accounts or private messages.
  2. Register online: Enter your NEET MDS details and personal information with care. Check your spelling, roll number and contact details before submitting the form.
  3. Pay the required fee: Complete the fee payment within the registration period. Save the payment receipt and application details.
  4. Fill your choices: Select colleges and MDS specialities in the order you prefer. Add choices only after checking the institute, course, fee and seat details.
  5. Lock your choices: Choice locking is a key step. Take a screenshot or download the confirmation page after locking your choices.
  6. Check the result: The Round 1 seat allotment result is scheduled for September 2, 2026. Use the official MCC portal to view the result.
  7. Report to the institute: Candidates who receive a seat must complete reporting and joining formalities between September 3 and September 11.

Documents candidates should keep ready

MCC may ask candidates to show original documents during reporting. Keep the required papers ready before the allotment result. Common documents may include the NEET MDS admit card, scorecard, BDS degree or provisional certificate, internship completion certificate, dental registration certificate, identity proof, photographs and category documents, where applicable.

Carry both original documents and copies if the institute asks for them. Candidates should also check whether their caste, income, disability or other certificates follow the format and validity rules mentioned in the counselling notice.

Important points about the revised dates

  • The Round 1 registration window remains open until August 29, 2026.
  • Choice filling and locking are scheduled from August 19 to August 29, 2026.
  • The Round 1 result is scheduled for September 2, 2026.
  • Allotted candidates must report between September 3 and September 11, 2026.
  • State quota counselling may follow a separate schedule issued by the relevant state authority.
  • MCC may publish further changes, notices or instructions on its website.

Candidates should check mcc.nic.in at regular intervals and read every notice before making a choice or paying a fee. Keep a record of the application number, payment receipt, locked choices and reporting documents. These small details can save time when the counselling window feels less like a window and more like a closing door.
