NEET MDS Counselling 2026 will be conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for admission to postgraduate dental courses. The counselling will cover 50% All India Quota seats, along with seats in deemed universities, central universities and other institutes listed by MCC.
As of July 30, 2026, MCC has not opened the counselling process. The first round is expected to begin in the first week of August 2026. Candidates should wait for the official notice, information bulletin and seat matrix on mcc.nic.in. Dates shown on other websites may change, so the MCC portal should be your main source.
NEET MDS Counselling 2026: Key Updates
- MCC is expected to release the seat matrix before registration starts.
- Round 1 registration and choice filling will take place online.
- The counselling process is expected to have four rounds.
- Seat allotment results will be released online, often in PDF format.
- Selected candidates must report to the allotted institute for document checks and admission.
Seats Covered by MCC Counselling
MCC counselling is held for 50% All India Quota seats in participating dental colleges. It also covers seats in deemed universities and central universities. The list may include seats from institutes such as BHU, AMU, Delhi University and other central institutions, as notified by MCC.
The seat matrix will show the number of seats available in each college, course and category. Check this document before filling choices. It can help you avoid selecting a course that has no seat in your category. A few minutes with the seat matrix can save a lot of head scratching later.

Registration Fee for NEET MDS Counselling
The following fees are based on the previous MCC information bulletin. Candidates must check the 2026 bulletin before making payment.
| Quota | Category | Non-refundable fee | Refundable security fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50% AIQ and Central Universities | General | Rs 1,000 | Rs 25,000 |
| 50% AIQ and Central Universities | SC, ST and OBC | Rs 500 | Rs 10,000 |
| Deemed Universities | All categories | Rs 5,000 | Rs 2,00,000 |
The security fee is separate from the non-refundable registration fee. Refund rules depend on the MCC counselling conditions and the round in which the candidate exits the process.
Choice Filling and Seat Allotment
After registration, candidates must fill and lock their college and course choices. Log in to the MCC account, add preferred options, and arrange them in order of priority. Place your first choice at the top. You can add more options if you are open to them.
Review the list before locking it. Check the college location, tuition fee, hostel cost, clinical exposure, bond rules and the course offered. Once choices are locked, changes may not be allowed during that round.
MCC will publish the provisional seat allotment result after choice filling. Check your application number, allotted college and course. If MCC opens a grievance window, submit any valid concern within the given time.
What to Do After Seat Allotment
Candidates who receive a seat must follow the reporting instructions in the allotment letter. Visit the institute within the stated deadline and complete document verification, fee payment and admission formalities. Missing the reporting deadline can lead to cancellation of the seat.
If you want an upgrade, read the rules for that round before taking action. Do not resign from an allotted seat without checking the effect on your eligibility, security deposit and participation in later rounds. MCC may set different conditions for free exit, resignation and upgrade.

Reservation in MCC counselling follows central government rules. The categories generally include:
- Scheduled Caste: 15%
- Scheduled Tribe: 7.5%
- Other Backward Classes, Non-Creamy Layer: 27%

OBC candidates must meet the central OBC list and Non-Creamy Layer requirements. Keep a valid certificate ready in the format accepted by MCC. State-level certificates may not meet central counselling rules.
