NBEMS Exam Calendar 2026 Updated: New Dates for NEET-SS, DrNB, NEET-PG, and FMGE

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has just rolled out a fresh examination calendar for the 2026 academic cycle. If you're preparing for any of the major medical entrance exams, this update matters to you.

The revised schedule brings changes to some exam dates while keeping others exactly as they were. Let me walk you through what's new, what's stayed the same, and what you need to mark on your calendar right now.

What Changed in the New Calendar

The biggest changes affect students preparing for DrNB (Doctorate of National Board) final exams. NBEMS has shifted the timeline for both the October 2026 and April 2027 sessions.

For the October 2026 session, the DrNB finals will now take place on September 25, 26, and 27, 2026. These exams fall on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This session covers two batches: DrNB Super Speciality (2023 Session) and Post MBBS Part-1 (2024 Session).

The April 2027 session has been rescheduled to March 26, 27, and 28, 2027. Again, these are weekend dates starting from Friday. This session includes Post MBBS Part-2 (2021 Session).

One detail worth noting: no fresh batches are scheduled for Post MBBS Part-2 in the October 2026 session. Similarly, there are no new batches for DrNB Super Speciality and Post MBBS Part-1 in the April 2027 session.

NEET-SS 2026 Gets an Official Window

For the first time, NBEMS has announced tentative dates for NEET-SS 2026. Super speciality aspirants can expect the exam on December 11 and 12, 2026. The exam will be held on Friday and Saturday.

The cut-off date for prior qualification is January 31, 2027. Make sure you complete your eligibility requirements before this deadline.

Training Completion Deadlines You Cannot Miss

NBEMS has set strict cut-off dates for training completion. These dates determine your eligibility to appear for the exams.

For the October 2026 DrNB session, candidates in the DrNB Super Speciality (2023 Session) must complete their training by February 17, 2027. Those in Post MBBS Part-1 (2024 Session) have until April 30, 2027.

The April 2027 session requires Post MBBS Part-2 (2021 Session) candidates to finish training by May 31, 2027.

Missing these deadlines means you cannot sit for the exam. Plan your training schedule with these dates in mind.

What Stayed the Same

NBEMS confirmed that several major exams will stick to their previously announced dates. NEET-PG 2026 remains scheduled for July 30, 2026, which falls on a Sunday. This is the big one that most medical graduates are eyeing.

The Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) for December 2026 will take place on January 9, 2027. That's a Saturday, giving you a weekend slot for this qualifying exam.

DNB and Diploma Finals Schedule

The Diploma Final exams have two sessions. The June 2026 session will be held on May 14, 15, and 16, 2026 (Thursday through Saturday). However, no fresh batch is scheduled for this session. The training completion cut-off is December 31, 2026.

The October 2026 Diploma Final session is set for September 11, 12, and 13, 2026. This covers the Diploma (2024 Session) batch, with a training cut-off of April 16, 2027.

DNB Final exams follow a similar pattern. The June 2026 session runs from June 18 to 21, 2026 (Thursday through Sunday). This session includes Post MBBS (2023) and Post Diploma (2024) batches. Training must be completed by December 31, 2026, for Post MBBS candidates and January 31, 2026, for Post Diploma candidates (note: this appears to be a past date and likely needs verification from official sources).

The December 2026 DNB Final session is scheduled for November 19 to 22, 2026. No fresh batches are planned for this session. The training completion deadline is May 15, 2027.

A Word of Caution

Here's something important to remember. This calendar is tentative. NBEMS has made it clear that the dates might change. The final, confirmed schedule will appear in the individual information bulletins for each exam.

Don't make any travel plans or book accommodations based solely on these dates. Wait for the official bulletins before committing to anything that involves money or significant arrangements.

How to Stay Updated

Check the official NBEMS portal regularly. The board will publish detailed notifications, application forms, and final exam schedules there first. Set up alerts or reminders to visit the website at least once a week during the months leading up to your exam.

You can also follow education news platforms that cover medical entrance exams. They often break down official announcements and explain what they mean for students.

Planning Your Preparation

Now that you know the tentative dates, you can sketch out a rough study timeline. Break down your syllabus into manageable chunks. Assign topics to specific months. Leave buffer time for revision and mock tests.

If you're appearing for multiple exams, map out all the dates on a single calendar. This helps you see the gaps between exams and plan accordingly. Some candidates use the gap between NEET-PG and NEET-SS to prepare for both simultaneously.

Remember that these exams can shape your entire medical career. The time you invest now will pay off for decades. Stay focused, stay updated, and give yourself the best possible shot at success.

Keep your documents ready, watch for application dates, and don't wait until the last minute to fill out forms. Medical entrance exams are competitive enough without adding unnecessary stress from poor planning.
