The Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) has released the State Service Prelims Exam 2026 result. A total of 3,786 candidates have qualified for the Mains examination. The commission will fill 156 posts through this recruitment process.
This result brings good news for thousands of aspirants who appeared for the exam on 26th April. The prelims exam was conducted across 54 district headquarters in the state in two shifts.
Two Separate Lists Released
The commission has taken an unusual step this year by releasing the result in two parts. The first regular merit list includes 3,055 candidates. The second list contains 731 candidates under a provisional category.
MPPSC has made it clear that both lists will remain separate. No changes or swapping between the two lists will be permitted. This decision comes in response to a pending court case related to OBC reservation that dates back to the 2019 State Service Exam.
Understanding the Split
The commission has allocated 87 percent of the posts to the regular recruitment process. The remaining 13 percent posts fall under the provisional category, pending the final court verdict on the OBC reservation dispute.
Out of 42 posts reserved for OBC candidates, 26 are in the regular list and 16 are in the provisional list. This arrangement ensures the recruitment process continues while respecting ongoing legal proceedings.
Post Distribution Across Categories
The 156 posts are divided among different categories. General category candidates have 41 posts available. Scheduled Caste candidates can compete for 20 posts, while Scheduled Tribe candidates have 33 posts reserved.
The Other Backward Classes category has the highest number with 42 posts. Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates have 20 posts set aside. The commission has also maintained reservations for persons with disabilities and ex-servicemen.
Key Positions on Offer
Candidates who clear the Mains exam will fill several important administrative positions. The list includes Deputy Collector, DSP (Deputy Superintendent of Police), and Naib Tehsildar roles.
Other positions include Excise Sub Inspector, Block Development Officer, Cooperative Extension Officer, and Chief Municipal Officer. Departments like Women and Child Development, Public Relations, and Tribal Affairs will also receive new officers through this recruitment.
How to Check Your Result
Candidates can view their results on the official MPPSC website. The result PDF contains roll numbers of all qualified candidates in both regular and provisional lists.
You need to search for your roll number in the appropriate list. Make sure you check both lists if you applied under the OBC category, as your name could appear in either list depending on the seat allocation.
What Happens Next
Qualified candidates should start preparing for the Mains examination. The Mains exam tests your knowledge in greater depth compared to the Prelims. It requires detailed answers and better understanding of subjects.
The commission will release the Mains exam date and schedule soon. Keep checking the official website for updates on exam dates, admit cards, and examination centers.
Remember that qualifying the Prelims is just the first step. The Mains exam and the interview round will determine your final selection and rank. Focus on strengthening your weak areas and revising core topics.
Important Points to Remember
The total number of posts remains fixed at 156. The commission has clarified that no additional posts will be added to this recruitment cycle.
Candidates selected through the provisional list will receive their appointments only after the court settles the pending OBC reservation case. However, they can still appear for the Mains exam and interview.
Regular list candidates face no such restrictions. Their selection process will continue as per the normal schedule, independent of court proceedings.
If you have qualified, download and save your result for future reference. You may need it during the Mains exam registration process or document verification rounds.
