Lucknow University Direct Admission 2026 for BTech and MCA Courses

Lucknow University has extended the application window for direct admission to BTech and MCA courses for the 2026-27 academic session. Eligible students can apply for vacant seats left after the UPTAC 2026 counselling process.

The university will offer admission to BTech and MCA first-year courses. BTech lateral entry admission will also be available in the second year. Students who meet the course rules should check the official Lucknow University website and submit the form within the stated time.

Important dates and application fee

The latest notice says that candidates can submit their applications by 12 August 2026. However, the notice also mentions 7 August for submitting the demand draft and for applications against vacant seats. Candidates should check the latest update on the university website before visiting the office. A date mix-up is not the kind of surprise anyone wants during admission season.

Eligibility for BTech first year

Applicants must have passed Class 12 from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Students should also meet the admission rules set by the university and the applicable technical education authorities.

Eligibility for MCA admission

Applicants can apply through either of the following routes:

  • A BCA, BSc Computer Science, BSc Information Technology, BTech Computer Science and Engineering, BTech Information Technology or an equivalent degree.
  • Any recognised graduate degree such as BE, BTech, BSc, BCom, BA or BVoc, provided the candidate studied Mathematics at the 10+2 or graduation level.

Applicants from the second route must have at least 50% marks in the qualifying examination. The minimum mark for SC and ST candidates is 45%.

Eligibility for BTech lateral entry

BTech lateral entry candidates can seek admission directly to the second year. They must meet one of these conditions:

  • A three-year engineering or technology diploma from a BTEUP-recognised institute, with at least 45% marks. The minimum mark for SC and ST candidates is 40%. Agriculture engineering, pharmacy and architecture diplomas are not included under this route.
  • A BSc degree from a UGC-recognised university with at least 45% marks, along with Mathematics at the 10+2 level. For SC and ST candidates, the minimum mark is 40%. BSc candidates will be considered only if seats remain after diploma holders receive allotment.
  • A D.Voc qualification in the same or an allied field from BTEUP or an equivalent recognised institute.

Documents required with the form

Candidates must attach self-attested copies of the required documents with the application form. The list includes:

  • High school marksheet and certificate
  • Intermediate marksheet and certificate
  • BCA or BSc marksheets and certificates for MCA applicants
  • Engineering diploma marksheets and certificate for lateral entry applicants
  • Caste certificate issued on or after 1 April 2026, if claiming reservation

Applicants should check every page before submission. A missing certificate can delay document checks or affect admission consideration.

How to apply for Lucknow University direct admission

  1. Visit the official Lucknow University website.
  2. Download the application form for BTech or MCA admission.
  3. Fill in personal, academic and category details in clear handwriting or as instructed.
  4. Attach self-attested copies of all required documents.
  5. Prepare a demand draft of Rs 1,600 in favour of the Finance Controller, University of Lucknow.
  6. Submit the completed form and demand draft at the Office of the Dean, Engineering and Technical Faculty.
  7. Keep a photocopy of the form and payment proof for future reference.
