AC Team

The Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan has opened the application window for SSLC Class 10 revaluation. Students who feel their marks don't reflect their performance can now request a second look at their answer sheets. This happens every year, and if you're not happy with your results, you have options.
This year brought good news overall. Out of 4 lakhs students who sat for the exam, 4,10,456 qualified. The pass percentage reached 99.07%, with girls achieving 99.22% and boys securing 98.93%. Around 30,514 students scored A+ across all subjects. Still, some students might want their papers checked again, and that's perfectly normal.
What Services Can You Apply For?
The board offers three different services for students. You can choose what fits your needs:
- Revaluation: Your entire answer sheet gets checked again by a different examiner
- Scrutiny: The board verifies if all questions were evaluated and marks were added correctly
- Photocopy: You receive a copy of your answer sheet to review yourself
Here's something that saves you money. If you apply for revaluation, you don't need to separately apply for scrutiny of the same paper. The revaluation process includes scrutiny automatically.
Understanding the Fees
Each service comes with its own fee structure. You need to know this before applying:
- Revaluation costs Rs 400 per paper
- Photocopy of answer scripts costs Rs 200 per paper
- Scrutiny costs Rs 50 per paper
You can apply for multiple papers if needed. Just calculate the total cost based on how many subjects you want checked.
How to Apply for Revaluation
The process happens online, but it needs offline confirmation too. Here's what you do:
Visit the official SSLC portal at sslcexam.kerala.gov.in/revaluation.php. Fill out the application form online and select the papers you want revaluated. After submitting, print the application form.
Now comes the important part. Take this printed form to your examination centre. You need to pay the fee to the Headmaster of the school where you wrote your exam. The Headmaster will confirm your application. Without this confirmation and fee payment, your application won't be processed.
Important Things to Remember
The IT paper stands apart from other subjects. You cannot apply for revaluation, scrutiny, or photocopy for the IT paper. This is a board rule, so keep this in mind before planning your applications.
Check your marks carefully before applying. Sometimes what feels like a wrong mark might actually be correct. Getting a photocopy first might help you decide if revaluation makes sense. You can see exactly what you wrote and how marks were awarded.
The Headmaster's confirmation matters a lot. Your application only becomes valid after the HM confirms it and you pay the fee. Make sure you complete this step within the deadline.
Should You Apply for Revaluation?
This depends on your situation. If you're close to a grade boundary and a few marks would make a difference, revaluation might help. If you felt confident about your answers but got unexpectedly low marks, it's worth trying.
However, revaluation doesn't always increase marks. Sometimes marks remain the same. In rare cases, they might even decrease if errors are found in the original evaluation. Think about this before applying.
Getting a photocopy first is smart. You can review your answers and see where you lost marks. This helps you decide if revaluation would likely help your case.
Meeting the Deadline
The Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan sets specific deadlines for these applications. You need to complete the entire process, including fee payment and HM confirmation, before this deadline passes. Missing it means you cannot apply later.
Don't wait until the last day. Technical issues, unavailability of the Headmaster, or other problems might delay your application. Start early and give yourself buffer time.
The board processes thousands of revaluation requests. Results take time to come out. If you need your marks urgently for admissions, factor in this waiting period.
What Happens Next?
After you submit your application and pay the fee, the board assigns your answer sheet to a different examiner. This person evaluates your paper fresh without knowing the original marks. For scrutiny, officials check if any question was left unmarked or if addition errors occurred.
The board publishes revaluation results on the official portal. You can check using your roll number. If your marks change, the board updates your records and issues a new mark sheet if needed.
Remember that revaluation gives you another chance, but it's not magic. Your marks reflect what you wrote in the exam. Still, human evaluation can vary, and a second look sometimes brings different results. If you believe in your answers and performance, applying for revaluation is your right as a student.
