Karnataka NEET UG 2026 Rank List: Everything Students Should Know

If you sat for NEET UG this year with dreams of Karnataka, the wait is over. The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has released the state rank list for candidates who marked Karnataka in their application form. Grab a cup of chai and let's break down what this means for you.

Who Topped the List

Vaishnavi Das, a general category student, holds the number one spot in Karnataka with an All India Rank of 20. She scored 700 out of 720, with a percentile of 99.997899. That is the kind of score that makes parents proud and siblings slightly jealous.

Ranks two to five belong to students who scored 695. The top 50 cutoff stands at 664 marks. The last name on the state merit list scored 177 marks. In total, 69,170 candidates made it to this list.

What This Rank List Actually Covers

This list is for students seeking admission under the state quota for MBBS, BDS, and AYUSH courses (Ayurveda, Unani, Homeopathy) in Karnataka. The list includes each candidate's roll number, NEET score, All India Rank, and state details. Keep in mind this is a provisional list, prepared specifically for Karnataka's state-level counselling.

The rank list is based on the NEET UG exam held on June 21.

What Happens If Two Students Score the Same

Ties happen, and KEA has a clear method to break them:

The candidate with higher marks in Biology gets preference
If the tie continues, higher marks in Chemistry are considered
Next, the candidate with fewer wrong answers gets the edge
If the tie still exists, the older candidate ranks higher

Counselling: What We Know So Far

KEA has not released the detailed round-wise counselling schedule yet. Registration for Karnataka NEET UG 2026 counselling opened in July and was extended till July 30. Details on document verification, seat matrix, option entry, mock allotment, and seat allotment dates will follow soon.

Round 1 of counselling is expected in August 2026, with Round 2 and mop-up rounds likely in September. Once the choice-filling window opens, candidates on the rank list need to lock their preferred colleges and courses before the deadline. Those applying under the All India Quota will need to participate separately through the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) process.

The Real Competition

Here is the part that puts things in perspective. Around 11.21 lakh students cleared NEET UG this year. India has only 1,36,939 MBBS seats. That works out to roughly 8 candidates competing for every single seat. So if you made it to this list, you have already cleared a tough filter.

New Reforms in NEET UG Counselling 2026

The central government has introduced several changes to make counselling smoother:

One-time physical reporting: No repeated visits to colleges are needed
Online seat upgrade: Choosing the 'float' option keeps the rest of the process online
Online document verification: Students opting for float can verify documents online, and original documents need to be submitted only once
Seat upgrade till Round 3: Students can upgrade seats till Round 3, with final physical reporting required only after that
Online seat resignation: Seats can be given up through the MCC portal without visiting the college
More centres for PwD candidates: Medical board evaluation centres have gone up from 16 to 61
Eligibility Certificate replaces Disability Certificate: The medical board will now issue certificates based on eligibility
Fully online NRI quota: Registration and document submission for NRI candidates will happen entirely through the portal instead of email
