JTET 2026: Teacher Training From October 29 May Be Postponed
JAC has asked JCERT to postpone the October 29 CPD training programme so teachers can support JTET 2026 at 986 examination centres.

The teacher training programme planned from October 29 to November 3 may be postponed because of the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test, or JTET 2026. The Jharkhand Academic Council, known as JAC, has asked the Jharkhand Council of Educational Research and Training, or JCERT, to change the training schedule.
The request comes as the state prepares to conduct JTET 2026 on November 1. The exam will need a large number of staff at examination centres. Many serving government teachers are expected to take the test, which may affect the availability of invigilators.
Why may the training be postponed?
JAC has written to the director of JCERT and requested that the Continuing Professional Development, or CPD, training programme be moved to a later date. The training is set to run from October 29 to November 3. These dates overlap with the preparation and conduct of JTET 2026.
According to the council, around 35,000 to 40,000 serving government teachers may appear for the eligibility test. If these teachers attend the exam, schools and examination centres may face a shortage of invigilators. One person cannot be in two classrooms at the same time, even during an important exam.
JTET 2026 will be held at 986 centres
JAC has planned JTET 2026 at 986 examination centres across Jharkhand. The large number of centres means the examination will need careful planning and enough staff.
Invigilators help manage the exam inside each room. They check the seating plan, follow examination rules and help maintain a fair process. A shortage of trained staff can make this work harder, especially when the exam takes place across many districts on the same day.
The possible change in the CPD schedule aims to make more teachers available for exam duties. It may also help the state conduct the JTET without affecting regular school work more than needed.
District education officers also raised the issue
The matter was discussed during a video conference with district education officers on October 12. Officials considered the effect of the training programme on the smooth conduct of JTET 2026.
During the meeting, the officers requested that the CPD training be postponed and held on new dates. Based on this discussion, the JAC secretary sent a formal letter to the JCERT director.
A copy of the letter has also been sent to the secretary of the School Education and Literacy Department. This keeps the department informed about the request and the possible change in the training plan.
Has the new training date been announced?
No new date has been confirmed yet. The request from JAC does not itself change the schedule. JCERT must issue an official order before the postponement becomes final.
Teachers should wait for notices from JCERT, JAC, the School Education and Literacy Department and their district education offices. Schools may also share updates once the department sends fresh instructions.
What teachers should check
- Check whether the CPD training dates have changed.
- Keep the JTET 2026 admit card and exam details ready.
- Confirm the examination centre and reporting time before November 1.
- Follow messages from the district education office or school head.
- Do not rely on social media posts unless they carry an official notice.
The main update for now is that the October 29 to November 3 CPD training may be moved. The final decision will depend on the directions issued by JCERT. Until then, teachers should treat the existing schedule as subject to change and watch for the next official notice.
