JTET Exam 2026 in Dhanbad: Centres, Staff Duty and Key Updates

Jharkhand will hold the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JTET) on 1 November 2026. The exam will take place across the state at 986 centres. Dhanbad will have 109 centres, where around 39,000 candidates are expected to appear.

The exam is being held after a gap of nine years. Since many candidates and staff members are linked to government schools, the district administration has issued strict instructions to keep the process smooth and fair.

Leave cancelled for exam staff

All teachers and non-teaching staff assigned to JTET duties will not be allowed to take leave on 31 October and 1 November. Orders to cancel leave are being issued at the deputy commissioner level.

The move aims to ensure that every exam centre has enough staff. It also helps officials avoid last-minute gaps in duty arrangements. Exam planning is one place where a missing person can create a very long queue.

Private school teachers may join exam duty

A large number of government teachers are expected to appear for JTET as candidates. Across Jharkhand, around 35,000 to 40,000 serving government teachers may take the test. This could lead to a shortage of invigilators at some centres.

To manage this issue, teachers and staff from private schools, government schools and colleges may be assigned as invigilators. This means private school teachers are also likely to play a key role in the exam process in Dhanbad and other districts.

The staff assigned to each centre will help with candidate checks, seating, question paper handling and exam room monitoring. Centre officials will also be responsible for following the instructions issued by the Jharkhand Academic Council and district administration.

Cyber cell to monitor online activity

A district-level cyber cell will be formed to watch for exam malpractice, rumours and claims linked to question paper leaks. The cell will monitor social media and other online activities during the exam period.

This step is meant to reduce the spread of false information and identify suspicious online activity. Candidates should rely on official notices from the Jharkhand Academic Council and district authorities instead of unverified messages on WhatsApp or social media.

Rules for appointing centre heads

Officials have also set rules for appointing centre superintendents. In government and private schools, the appointments will be made after approval from the deputy commissioner.

The appointments will carry the joint signatures of the additional collector and the district education officer. This process is intended to bring clear responsibility to each exam centre and support fair conduct of the test.

Other training programme postponed

The exam schedule has also affected other education programmes. The State Council of Educational Research and Training has postponed its Continuous Professional Development, or CPD, programme.

The training programme was planned from 29 October to 3 November. It has been postponed so that teachers can take part in JTET as candidates or exam staff without a clash in dates.
