GATE 2027 Complete Guide: Latest Updates, PSU Jobs, Coaching Institutes, Test Series & Syllabus
GATE 2027 dates, eligibility, revised syllabus, application fees and PSU routes, with ACE Engineering Academy, MADE EASY, GATE Academy and GO Classes preparation options.

Hello, GATE aspirants! I’m Runal Naik. GATE 2027 is organised by IIT Madras, with examinations on six dates in February 2027. Regular registration runs until 5 October 2026, followed by the late-fee period until 12 October. The examination supports postgraduate admission and recruitment by participating PSUs. Select your paper and revised syllabus first, then choose teaching, revision or test support for your actual needs.
GATE 2027 dates and important updates
The official schedule lists the following dates. Check it before submitting an application or making travel arrangements, because dates can change.
Activity | Date |
|---|---|
Regular registration | 5 October |
Late-fee | 12 October |
Rectification | 14-21 October |
City notification | 4 January |
Examinations | 6, 7, 13, 14, |
Results | 19 March |
Admit-card release is yet to be announced. Your selected paper’s allotted day and session determine when you attend; the six examination dates are the overall schedule.
There are 30 test papers, including the new Robotics & Automation paper, RA. Syllabi have been revised. Textile Engineering & Fibre Science is now the XE9 section within Engineering Sciences. Check the current XE, XH and XL section codes when choosing your syllabus.
Who can apply, and which paper should you choose?
The official eligibility page allows students in the third or higher year of an eligible undergraduate programme and candidates who have completed a government-approved degree in the listed disciplines. GATE is open beyond engineering: qualifying Science, Commerce, Arts and Humanities routes are included. Check the detailed degree-specific conditions for your qualification.
Choose your paper around the programmes or jobs you want. A university department or PSU can require a particular degree branch, marks and GATE paper even when you are eligible to sit the examination.
You may take one paper or up to two papers from the permitted combinations.
Use one application; add an eligible second paper within that application.
Check the intended postgraduate programme’s accepted paper codes before paying for a second paper.
Application fees and DigiLocker checks
The official application-fee table distinguishes one-paper and two-paper applications. These are examination charges.
One paper: | Regular / |
|---|---|
Female, SC, ST | ₹1,000 / |
Others, including | ₹2,000 / |
For two papers, the corresponding regular/late totals are ₹2,000/₹2,500 for Female, SC, ST or PwD candidates, and ₹4,000/₹4,500 for other candidates. The late addition is ₹500 per application; doubling a one-paper late fee gives the wrong total.
Indian applicants use DigiLocker. The latest official notifications allow an unverified account, with subsequent document scrutiny and original-document verification at the exam hall. A verified account is recommended; verification means e-KYC, rather than merely creating an account. Keep the account used for your application active, and follow the specified upload filenames and size limits.
Our GATE DigiLocker guide explains the account-related update. Follow the official portal for the current submission steps.
Read the official application instructions, register and select your paper or permitted paper combination.
Enter your qualification and category details; upload the required photograph, signature and documents in the specified formats.
Review the completed form, pay the applicable fee and retain the submitted application and payment record. Follow scrutiny messages and correct defects within the allowed period.
Exam pattern: practise each question type correctly
The English computer-based test has 65 questions, 100 marks and a standard duration of three hours. General Aptitude contributes 15 marks. Check your paper’s section-wise pattern for the remaining marks and any applicable compensatory-time provisions.
Type | Wrong-answer |
|---|---|
MCQ | 1 mark: -⅓ |
MSQ | None. |
NAT | None. |
Engineering Mathematics weight is paper-specific. Do not apply the 13-mark rule to every paper: XE has a 15-mark compulsory Mathematics section, while several other papers have different structures.
Turn the syllabus into a preparation plan
Download your paper’s official 2027 syllabus. Mark unfamiliar, partly understood and confidently solved topics.
Study a concept, solve a short set without notes, then attempt relevant previous questions. Separate a missing concept from an arithmetic or interpretation error.
Revise recurring mistakes and important derivations weekly. Practise General Aptitude alongside your subject.
Add timed subject tests as coverage grows, followed by three-hour mocks. Use the same calculator and question-entry habits you will need in the examination.
Use the official download section for previous papers and answer keys. Map older questions to the revised syllabus before treating them as current coverage.
Online coaching options: choose support for your actual gap
Coaching is optional. Compare the selected branch, teaching language, remaining syllabus, doubt support and access expiry. A foundation course suits someone rebuilding concepts; a revision course assumes more prior preparation. The examples below are different learning formats, rather than a universal ranking.
ACE Engineering Academy
ACE offers live and self-paced digital formats alongside classroom preparation. Its 2027 online test series describes MCQ, MSQ and NAT practice, solutions and performance analysis. Upcoming tests are being aligned to the revised syllabus; already released topic and subject tests remain unchanged, so check coverage before purchasing.
Prof. Y. V. Gopala Krishna Murthy - individual teaching tenure not stated - Founder and engineering-exam mentor. The public leadership profile does not identify the teacher assigned to every 2027 subject; request the roster for your paper and format.
Try the official Algorithms NAT/MSQ revision class. The excerpt distinguishes unweighted shortest-path reasoning from weighted-graph algorithms and connects DFS properties to MSQ practice. Use it to check whether the explanation matches your current level.

MADE EASY
MADE EASY offers several formats. Its recorded Rank Improvement course targets repeaters; the current disclosure allows two viewings per video and access until GATE 2027. Ask whether a full teaching course or this revision-oriented format better matches your unfinished topics.
Its subject-module listing names these CS teachers; individual teaching tenure is not stated:
Bala Krishna - tenure not stated - Operating Systems and Data Structures.
Ravi Kumar - tenure not stated - Algorithms and Database Management Systems.
Prasad - tenure not stated - Theory of Computation and Compiler Design.
In the official Network Theory question-practice class, students are asked to attempt a problem with pen, paper and a virtual calculator before the solution steps. Pause and attempt the question yourself to judge the pace.

GATE Academy
GATE Academy’s Civil Engineering 2027 live course lists Android-app delivery, 365-day validity, workbooks, daily practice and tests. Check the selected language, current timetable and device rules. This Bhilai-based provider should not be confused with similarly named institutes.
Its Civil course page links two subject teachers. The following experience figures are provider-reported:
Mukul Trivedi - 5+ years - Engineering Hydrology and Irrigation.
Apoorv Pataudi - 5+ years - Surveying.
Umesh Dhande - 16+ years - Network Theory, Control Systems, Analog Electronics and Power Electronics. His electrical/electronics teaching sample below is separate from Civil subject preparation.
Its official AC Circuits question-solving lesson prompts independent attempts and connects a transfer-function example to the standard second-order form. It is a longer practice session; check whether you can follow the Hindi explanation while solving alongside it.
Our GATE Academy course and fee guide explains the different live and recorded products, device requirements and access dates.
GO Classes
GO Classes is an option for CS and DA preparation. The complete CS course describes recorded teaching, live doubt/practice sessions and faculty-group support. Its 2027 test series is a separate purchase, so include that in your resource decision.
Sachin Mittal - teaching tenure not stated - Co-founder and instructor. The provider lists an MTech from IISc Bangalore and prior work as an Amazon Applied Scientist.
Deepak Poonia - 5+ years of teaching, provider-reported - Co-founder and instructor. The provider lists an MTech from IISc Bangalore.
The official Sum Rule of Counting lesson starts with small disjoint sets and builds the cardinality rule from the example. This concept-first approach is useful to sample before committing to recorded study.
How to choose and analyse a test series
Check revised syllabus coverage and separate topic, subject and full-length test counts.
Inspect a sample solution and score report for reasoning, timing and question-wise review.
Confirm release dates and expiry, including whether all papers are available now.
After each mock, record lost marks by cause, re-solve without the answer, and set the next revision task. A rank alone does not identify your learning gap.
PSU jobs and postgraduate admission: separate application routes
The official opportunities page identifies postgraduate routes and PSUs that have used GATE scores, including NTPC, IOCL and POWERGRID. That historical list is not a list of current 2027 vacancies.
For each job, check the employer’s recruitment notice for accepted GATE year and paper, degree branch, marks, age/category conditions, separate application deadline and selection stages. Qualifying GATE does not automatically secure employment. For admission, separately check the institution’s accepted papers, programme eligibility, application and offer-acceptance process.
